Merry Christmas ALL!! :D

I hope everyone here had a great Christmas!

Now, to the questions:

1) I recieved a Sirius Xact8 satrad and am looking to set it up for both the cages and the bike. I would prefer to hardwire to the bike power and leave the accessory plug for switching between cages. The manual has several warnings not to modify the accessory plug at the risk of damaging the unit.

There are only two reasons that I can think of for this. 1) polarity difference - and if this is the case, a reverse wired socket would be a problem. 2) I have taken apart the accessory plug and the only thing there is a fuse.

My guess is that the fuse is the issue. I am going to try to get a similar power connector from ratshack and wire in a fuse to hard wire for the bike. I would like some feedback on the polarity issue from anyone who is in the know.

2) Has anyone mounted this type of satrad to the bike, and if so, what did you use? I don't want to keep it in the tank bag and security is not an issue as I plan to just take it off and put away when off the bike. The supplied mount is just a slip in and will be fine for the cage, but I am concerned that it is not secure enough for the wind/vibration of the ride to keep the unit from comming out on a bump.

Thanks,

Caba

Oh, and just to avoid getting flamed, I have done the search and haven't found anything regarding this particular model and mounting (however, I have been accused of being blind ) :D

I didn't post any pics, so here is a Link to the reciever.

I have Xact and I use the auto mount for the bike. I have it in the tank bag and plug the cigar lighter into a like socket that is Y'd off the power that it brought from the front Jastek outlet and into the tank back via a Jastek bulkhead fitting. The Y's, cigar lighter and BMW sockets were all acquired via Jastek. I then take all loose wires and sockets and stow them in a Quarter Cube to keep the tank bag uncluttered.

I just use the car kit connector and not the base/holder. That feeds power/antenna in and then I use a patch cable to get audio out to the MixIt that is also in the tank bag. On days like yesterday, I just plug the Ear Monitors straight into the MixIt. That gets me Sirius (or MP3), Valentine 1 audio, and up to 2 other audio sources. If I want to use the CB then I plug the MixIt into the aux audio of the Clarion and use the helmet headset and plug the ear monitors into the splitter (described on the page that details the CB/Intercom).
