Lorie and I will be riding as a duo this coming weekend. I would like to know if any other 2-up riders would be interested in a "relaxed" ride on Saturday. When Lorie is with me I leave all notions of draggin' pegs and triple digit runs behind and prefer to ride a nice relaxed (not akin to a 90 year old out for a ride on Sun morning mind you) pace with a stop for a nice lunch or even to check out an interesting little town or place. No hurry, no schedule, no pressure, no need to try a prove my nuts are larger than anyone else's!

Anyone?

Bueller?

Jim

My wife and I are also 2 up this weekend and I ride differently while carrying precious cargo (Debbie). We would be interested in riding with you guys on Sat. While we live in Florida both our families live in VA near you.

Jim, I won't be 2 up, as my wife can not make it, but I may tag along with you. I have a buddy that may be attending EOM with me, and if so, we may go another route, but he just called and told me his mother -in-law just passed away so he may not coming to EOM after all. Anyway, it sounds like you have a nice ride planned and it would be fun. I'll let you know.

Brazos - sure thing. If fact I'd like to talk to you about Johnson City and places to retire. Heck, with you we'd actually have someone who knows the area!

I have a little ride put together, that might fit a little slower ride.

Basically:

Boone

To Blowing Rock (down 321)

(stop at the rock to take in the scenery)

Over to the Blue Ridge Pky on 221

Follow the BRP (SW) to Mount Mitchell (roughly 45 miles)

(stop to take in the mountain scenery)

Follow the BRP (NE) back to 321 and up to Boone.

It is 4 hours total of riding time. Maybe 5 1/2 hours counting 2 stops plus lunch.

I like this ride because navigation is pretty simple. I like simple cause I don't have GPS.

After Blowing Rock, take the BRP till you find the biggest mountain peak, then come back on the same road.

Of course, if any locals are on the ride, we have time for cool detours.

If we leave around 9am on Saturday, we might try to hit a late lunch in Blowing Rock.

Eat a good breakfast cause I suspect we won't find a lunch spot till after 1:00.

At lunch people can make a new plans.

Back to the hotel hot tub, or more of the same, or going out at a hotter pace.

Everyone can just make their own call based on the mood. Pillions do tend to have moods. ;)

If that works, just look for a silver (2003) FJR in the parking lot, riding 2-up, about 9am on Saturday.

If anyone pulls ahead during the ride, they can just ease up on the longer straight aways to keep the group together.

No biggy.

quicksilver - sounds like a good start. Lorie and I will be in the parking lot at 0900 - we look a lot like my avitar! :D Blue 05, should be easy to see as they didn't make that many.

I'll print out some maps and bring them with me.

We're in! Just what the ladies would like. :)

Glad to see we have some interest. I imagine we'll pick up some other folks before we get started.

My son and I will probably hook up with you folks at least to Blowing Rock. We are GPS enabled and really enjoy just taking random turns and having Gertrude (my Garmin Quest) take us home.
