I am selling my 2006 FJR ABS. I purchased the bike new and it has been my primary
commuter vehicle here in the Seattle area for the last seven years. Back issues
are the primary reason for my selling the bike. I have put 200,000 miles on
four BMWs over the last 15 years and the FJR has been the best BMW that I've
ever owned
Here is the basic info:
82,000 miles (approximate, as I still use this to commute a few days per week)
Pirelli Angel GT tires (new, approximately 300 miles on them as of this posting)
Penske 8987 triple adjustable shock (high and low speed compression, rebound)
freshly refurbished, $1200+ if new
GP Suspension valves and springs in the forks ($500+). Fork oil freshly changed.
Cam chain, tensioner, and guides replaced recently
Valve clearance check recently completed (absolutely ZERO adjustments required since new)
Coolant changed
Throttle cable replaced recently
Front brake rotors replaced fairly recently with Yamaha factory parts
All brake pads replaced fairly recently with Yamaha factory pads, 50%+ remaining
All recall and service advisory items done (multi-function display replaced, ignition switch,
wiring hardness ground points, fuel injection computer mapping)
All major maintenance up to date.
Motoman engine break-in. Engine is very strong and shows zero oil use.
Extras included with the purchase:
Yamaha factory service manual, properly dirtied and dog-eared
Frame sliders installed (never been slide tested, thankfully)
Carbon fiber armor cover for the alternator (new, never installed)
An approximate half-dozen Yamaha branded oil filters and crush washers
Special tool adapter for removing front and rear axle
Oil filter wrench
PIAA 70456 Extreme White Plus headlamp bulbs installed
A selection of Yamaha saddle bag liners exhibiting from no wear to nearly worn out
Micapeak sticker on the windscreen (priceless)
This bike has been well maintained and cared for, but I will be brutally
honest and not spin the fact that this has been an all-weather, year-round
commuter bike here in rainy Seattle and the grime from wet roads takes a
bit of a toll on the shiny bits. This is a used motorcycle and not
a garage beauty queen. There are boot scuff marks on the saddle bag paint
and scuffs on the rear of the tank from my riding suit but there are no
major scrapes, scratches or other obvious defects. This is a bike that was
meant to be ridden and it has been, and the paint wear counts as street
cred to those in the know. I'm going to be working on the paint with
the appropriate potions and elbow grease over the next few days and it'll
probably shine up fairly well. Appearance is probably a 7.5-8 out of 10.
The only farkles that I put on it were the frame sliders and the $1700
worth of suspension because I like a machine that handles well and this
one does. This is the suspension that Yamaha should have built on the
bike instead of the dippy dual-spring rear shock that was toast at 20K
miles.
Price: $7600 FOB Seattle area. Yes, that may seem a bit high given the
mileage but if you consider the state of ride readiness and the significant
suspension upgrades it's in the right ballpark per a survey of CycleTrader.
No lowball offers, no third party offers, no money orders. Just no. Cash only.
Full price cash in my hand if you want to take it for a test ride.
If you are out of Seattle area we can jointly arrange shipping but you pay
for it. I'll also be glad to pick you up at the airport so that you can ride
