When I got the FJR I had bad right hand numb-itis.

First change: BMW sport grips, much bigger hand gripping surface area than the stock grips. A little better.

Second: risers an inch back & an inch higher. A little better.

Third: Vista Cruise throttle lock for those moments when you have to do the hand 'down & shake movement'. A little better.

Last: Riding lots of miles, getting used to the slightly forward seating angle, mentally telling myself 'don't grip it like it's gonna run away', going to the exercise club every once & awhile. Much better, hardly happens anymore...

YMMV, of course.

It will be worth the wait. You will start grinning like a kid again.

 
To prevent numbness or to undo it, I just slide the right thumb and index finger over the throttle cable housing. Works GREAT every time, and can ride for a full tank that way.
