2007 With Low Miles Question

I bought my latest FJR (an 08 AE) from a dealer in Memphis last October with 5,000 miles on it (one owner old man trading for a CanAm Spyder couldn't hold up the FJR). It had no apreciable farkels, but as part of the deal the dealership changed all the fluids, put on my heli-bar riser and highway pegs. I paid $5,000.00 for it. The bike had various scuffs and scratches from the prior owner dropping the bike, but no appreciable damage The recalls were not yet done, but that's not a biggie as Yamaha did them for me after I bought the bike. The bike now has 34,500 miles as I put the near 30k on in the year since I bought it. I had an RDL seat in the garage and a Gerald luggage rack from a prior FJR and have used those as well as having bought a Cal Sci windscreen. I've also changed the tires several times, oil, and such. The bike could use spark plugs and the valve check as well as a little minor maintenance which I'll probably do in the spring.

The big thing is that it has run flawlessly with the exception of an electrical issue fixed for free as part of the recall and a Shift 47 I think it was message that cost me under a $100.00 to fix (broken sensor on the brake pedal). If you are going to be a higher mileage rider like me (25,000 miles or so a year) then this bike is a good deal after price bargaining. If you are a lower mileage rider then a bike with more farkels and more miles may be a better deal.

Just noticed a local dealer has a 2007 model with 3900 miles. I bought a bike once with real low miles and ending up spending a lot of money on it to get it right. Seems it had been sitting up for a long time. Just wondering what ya'll think? I hope to get to take a look at it in the next few days and get more info. BTW, I no longer have the 2005 on my avatar.
Those low miles clang a loud warning bell in my head...I've only had aggravating problems with (2) bikes in my life (out of 21 or so that I've owned), and both were old bikes with super low miles, like the one you're looking at. I'd check it out with a fine tooth comb, with particular concentration on anything rubber (gaskets, seals, hoses, brake lines, etc). Those are the things that may show problems when getting the bike running long enough to cycle thru repeated hot and cold cycles.

Good luck!

If the bike was stored inside a garage in good conditions that would be huge in my book. Only other thing I would be concerned was as mentioned the recalls done. This year like my 06 was also subject to the faulty ignition switch recall and the spider ground/corrosion electrical recall. I opted for the Brodie harness but make sure these were done. You will not be disappointed with an 07. Especially the money you save off a newer bike.

Just to update this, I decided against this particular one but found another 07 in great condition for less money with some farkles that I had already planned to get Hope to pick it up tomorrow.
