MadMike will be filing a full-length trip report with a captivating narrative,

but I wanted to just throw up a few of the 350 or so photos I got of the event.

Thanks Highlander. Great idea! I'm glad as hell I went.

I'm not even going to provide any captions right now. Ya'll feel free to comment.

I'll get another load of images up- and a half-assed ride report- after I've recovered a bit.

I'm looking forward to hearing from all the other participants.

Here's a start.

i never will understand how pretty ladies can hang out with a bunch of old ugly geezers :p

thanks for posting the pics, looks like y'all had a great time

Great pix Michael. Thanks for sharing, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your images.

We got home safely and will post up some words and pictures after a while. I second the vote of thanks to Highlander for making this happen, to Don and Shawna for the Tri-tip, to Richard for the pizza and Harley Dawg for the entertainment (plus all the others who made us smile).

It was a great weekend, phenomenal roads and scenery, made all the better by the company of wonderful people.

I took the liberty of moving Jeff's post over to this thread.

Uhm...er...byt the way.... :clapping: YOU won the burnout contest! :clapping:

But then, there was only 1 entrant.....

I'm home safely. 5 hours from the motel to my garage. I'll get my pictures loaded and posted later.

:yahoo: What a Yee-Freakin'-Haw weekend! :yahoo:

My first major "get-together" since my recovery. I really enjoyed the ride down to lunch and then South on Hwy 1 (and to the "unknown rider" who joined us in Concord), then seeing old friends face-to-face is special. Then meeting new members of the fraternity (okay Jill, sorority, too!).

Getting a guided tour by khunajawdge who led us on some of his favorite back roads was dessert on the feast of sharing times with friends, and for the trailer load of firewood.

And special thanks to Fairlaner who continually volunteered to be the "butt" of jokes around the campfire! :clapping: And for the many "store" runs and ordering the pizza. You guys sure know how to "rough it" by camping!

dcarver gets my vote for "FJR Chef". The man brings his camper and barbecue so he can "build" us some tri-tip and toasted french bread for hors d' oeuvres.....and Harley D. Dog to "do" the dishes!

Kudos to Highlander for setting this up. What a fun time!

Sumbitch...I'm kicking myself right now.

Looks like a freakin' blast. Next year, next year for sure.

(Someone remind me that I said that)

Yep. Great time despite injuries suffered from my being a good Samaritan.

Without further wordage:

All in all, a great WFO-7! See y'all next year!

[Re-posted from "California" section, Sunday Jun 8 2008, 09:49 AM.]

JB checking in here, home S&S from my trip down to the Clan Gathering in Moro Bay. Having had to be home today for my daughter's HS graduation this afternoon, I rode down Friday morning with a NorCal group, spent the night at the campground, and returned the next morning. Got home at 3:30 Saturday afternoon (yesterday) after pulling away from camp at 10:30 after all the riders had already departed on their day rides. ToeCutter had stayed behind to wait for his SO and was able to help me push my bike back out of the loose dirt.

No pictures from me since I did not bring my camera, but there were plenty of cameras, so look for photos later tonight in the Ride Reports section after clan members get home.

It was great hanging with old friends (not so old really, since I ain't been around the forum that long) and meeting new friends (putting faces to what Fang calls my "invisible friends" on the forum). I want to thank Highlander again for organizing this great event, and dCarver and his SO for the delicious steak and shrimp and comfortable fire-pit chairs, and Old Michael for Saturday morning donuts. Kahuna George for the firewood.

BTW, Don, I took Hwy 46 from Hwy 1 to 101. Really beautiful! And an amazing over-the-shoulder (I didn't pull over) view of Moro Bay!

Silent and MadMike2, you would have been proud of me: I practiced patience and cruised at 70 MPH the whole way home! I just have to get used to having SUVs passing me at 90 MPH.

And you know what the best thing about riding solo is? You can stop any time you feel like it. :p

Way to go JB, you got home before me.

Terri was getting sick again on the way home, she now hates Hwy 1.

I had to pull over on Hwy 1 to let a guy on a scooter pass, damn those things are fast.

Some shots from George's ride:

North on Hwy 1.

Heading up Nacimiento Road. Uhm...its a quick climb!

This is khunajawdge, Bluestreeks, Sacramento Mike, and flying jr.

Just moments before we were almost at sea level...

MorroBayTrip016.jpg

Going through Fort Hunter-Liggett we came through this valley where there had been a wildfire. Of course, Bluestreek and I (chatting on the radios) quickly dubbed this the "scorched earth" war practice area.

My requisite photos of Morro Rock.....

....and the harbor.

MorroBayTrip021.jpg

Heading home, East bound on Hwy 41, I drove past this Avocado orchard.

MorroBayTrip026.jpg

A few month ago I would have found this road to be a challenge, so I probably would have ridden it at the speed limit +15 mph. This particular morning, riding the speed limit and enjoying the splendid scenery and lighting, was all I needed to begin my trek home.

MorroBayTrip027.jpg

Thanks again to all of those who organized the event and rides and those who cared for us while we were at Morro Bay. You folks are "the best!" And to the other FJR owners who always make these "gatherings" special unto themselves.

I just posted 50 photos to photobucket, and offered them to JDog to make a slide show. I will post them here if he can't use them. I think there are some really nice shots taken by Old Michael with my camera at the camp ground.

And finally, here's my damn report.

We met at the famous Solano Baking Company. Flying Junior (on the left) brought balloons. He said he was just feeling "festive!"

Okay Walt. (We humored him.)

Our first gas stop just north of Moss Landing. Madmike faced down a middle-aged mother of three in an SUV. She quickly backed up and sped off!

Way to go Mike!

"There's a hair in my clam chowder!" exclaimed JB. "And there's a woman attached to it!"

Thanks. I'm done.

Next week. Garrison, Utah?

Outstanding! Great shots guys!

Reports like this make me miss that area. I lived just north of Morro in Santa Cruz before moving to KY. Gotta love Phil's Fish Market!

Beautiful area and piccy's like these make me forget about the high price of gas, astronomical housing prices, horrendous traffic and of course roving hooligan FJR gangs!

I do miss riding up in the mountains between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay though. Good times.
