Looking forward to the motorbikes and mountains, ...and wickedly envious.

Don't let us down, camera jockeys.

From Daniel - Nitrox32 of AZ Beemers Club:

Here are a few pictures from last nights dinner. I also had the Curry sauage. It was great along with a weisse beer

It seems German equivalent of Fish N' Chips is Wiener N' Buns.
Sam, we really wish that you would not use the phrase "Wiener N' Buns" in a location where RadioHowie, HotRodZilla and Bustanut joker can see it! Thank You, from FJR Forum Alps Extremists.

Fine but it seems it has finally been revealed what BMW stands for:

BMW = Brötchen Mund Weiner!

Okay, I'm all sausaged out.
<sigh>

I'm with the Irish-Canadian-Kalifornian mutt.

This ride report needs more "culture."
This is the "wurst" ride report I have ever seen... I agree with the others that you guys need to get out of the stubes and get your butts on a bike. I am starting to think that this tour is some type of "lets see how much sausage we can eat" event. It's not like there aren't hundreds of thousands of motorcycles in Europe... All you guys posted was a picture of a scooter! Pretty sad so far!

You guys complain all you want about the sausage and beer reporting, but I know you wish you were there. I know I wish I was there, too. :drinks:

It is the Bite More Weiners tour at the moment. When the pictures of the Alps show up then I am sure I will be wishing I was there.. :)

I dunno. At least SacramentoMke was making the moves on the wimmens. Kinda cold, but very pretty, and thankfully not a sausage in sight.

All Things BMW

Yesterday after breakfast we hopped onto the bus downtown and hopped off the bus at BMW Welt ....

bmw1.jpg

Over in Germany the drinking of the BMW Koolaid starts at a very young age ...

bmw2.jpg

The girl was pretty bummed that she had to wait for her turn.

Here is Don extolling the virtues of BMW to Tom ...

bmw3.jpg

Pam is not so sure she wants to ride on the back of that contraption.

Some of you may not know that BMW is now involved with Rolls Royce ...

bmw4.jpg

As Don's shirt points out this was the fastest motorcycle at the time ....

bmw5.jpg

I rode Huskys for a lot of years and now BMW owns Husqvarna (at least the motorcycle division). Here is the Paris to Dakar bike...

bmw6.jpg

We were going to go over to the museum but I wanted to check out some of the other Huskys when we heard a bike being fired up inside the building ....

bmw7.jpg

The rider then entertained the crowd by riding up and down the stairwells inside of BMW Welt ....

bmw8.jpg

On the final decent he would do a stoppy (up on the front wheel only) while going down. I told Don I could do that, just not on purpose.

Once the show was over it was time to head over to the BMW Museum ....

bmw9.jpg

to be continued ....

One of the first bike displays was this very nice unit ....

bmw11.jpg

Further along we came across one of the BMW road racers ....

bmw12.jpg

I was actually a little more interested in this 750cc ISDE bike that I first saw live coming across the field near Brioude France in 1980 when I was over with the Canadian ISDE Team in a support role ....

bmw13.jpg

With Don as my monkey we wouldn't have any problems with the right-handers ....

bmw14.jpg

There were also a number of cars of racing heritage on display ....

bmw15.jpg

bmw16.jpg

The modern F1 Sterring Wheel ....

bmw17.jpg

The power plant from the 2005 BMW F1 car ....

bmw18.jpg

Another race car from 1961 ....

bmw19.jpg

Don needs to explain this one to me ....

bmw20.jpg

Another great old roadster that was on display ....

bmw21.jpg

I don't think Don is going to fit ....

bmw22.jpg

These were the last two vehicles on display as you leave the museum. A GT and a Prototype racer. Very cool cars ....

bmw23.jpg

to be continued ....

Well we made it to Munich last night after a high speed run from Slovakia

We ran into the guys as they were staggering back from supper as we were just sitting down to eat.

Back at our hotel at the moment getting our gear out of the van and repacking for the next leg of this tour.

Chris

We stopped for a beer and a sandwich for lunch and then headed back over to BMW Welt where there were a few of the same model of BMW's that we will be using on the tour ....

bmw24.jpg

If Tom is going to be the pillon on this trip he better hang on tight ....

bmw25.jpg

We just missed the afternoon show as the Husky Demo rider was posing with some of the kids after the demo ....

bmw27.jpg

Walking back across the bridge over to Olympic Park I was able to get this photo of the stadium ....

bmw28.jpg

Apparently Bungie got lost again and ended up in Munich where he has set up this trampolin for the kids (note the sign on the wall) ....

bmw29.jpg

The swan is trying to hatch that kid out of the clear egg ....

bmw30.jpg

Don wanted to go for a ride but I was pretty sure he would burst that bubble.

BY now it was getting a little late so we returned to downtown and went over to see if Chris & Diane had checked in. They had not arrived yet so we left a message and headed over to the Hofenhaus for dinner ....

bmw31.jpg

There were about 1000 drunken Germans in the building & courtyard. During Oktoberfest there will be over 6000 drunken Germans here. It will be completely crazy.

What's beer without pretzels ....

bmw32.jpg

No sausages today. we went with the veal cutlets instead ....

bmw33.jpg

Tom went with the pig's knuckle and dumpling ....

bmw34.jpg

Tom was getting a little wobbly to the point where Pam was too embarrassed to show her face ....

bmw35.jpg

Tom looks much better in this photo ....

bmw36.jpg

There was no way I wanted to be seen with Don .....

bmw37.jpg

We finally had to give Mike (SacMike) his hat back .....

bmw38.jpg

That kid beside Mike thinks we are all idiots.

The live music got the thumbs up from most of the crowd .....

bmw39.jpg

It was finally time to head back to hotel and call it a night. I will close this episode out with a couple of night shots from Munich .....

bmw40.jpg

bmw41.jpg

Today we are off to Edring and get ready for the ride ................... FINALLY.

Okay, I'm all sausaged out.

Don't let us down, camera jockeys.

Leave it to Lola to point out something like this.....

This was a very nice Wheat Beer that I had to wash down a rather nice beef doner sandwich that I had for lunch at the street cafe just outside of the hotel. Sitting out on the street patio also allowed for the opportunity to watch the locals ....

lunch2.jpg

I thought you guys was overseas??? It's evident you are geographically challenged as Montana is in the US. :dribble:

Kudos to the photoshop guru! By golly ya make it look like Tom is really there. ;)

We now have the bikes and are ready to start riding tomorrow. Today was just a transport day so there is really nothing else to report. I need to get some packing done on the bike so the next time I report we will be in Austria.

Day 1 is a wrap, All are safe and in the bar.

Dinner bell has just rung.

Food and Alp road **** to follow

Chris

I was up early to get the bike loaded up and do a quick run with the bike just to make sure I could remember how to use that funny level on the left handlebar. The morning light was good for a photo of the hotel that we started from in Erding, Germany ....

day-1-1-L.jpg

We took a coffee break about 2 hours into the ride as we headed south away from Munich in the town of Einsiedl and then continued over to the Linderhof Castle for a stop for a tour and lunch. We had an hour before the tour started so we went for lunch first. SacMike had this to satisfy his sweet tooth ....

day-1-3-L.jpg

It was then time to line up for the castle tour. we were allowed to take photos of the grounds but none of the interior of the castle ....

day-1-4-L.jpg

day-1-5-XL.jpg

day-1-6-L.jpg

day-1-7-L.jpg

Here is most to the motley crew in the castle's back yard ....

day-1-9-L.jpg

We then hit a mountain pass where Don was going so slow that he got passed by an old German lady going uphill on a bicycle which startled Don and he stalled the bike in the middle of the road gumming up the whole works and bringing everyone behind him to a dead stop. Traffic was heavy in spots in the mountains and you had to pick your passing spots carefully. We also got rained on a bit towards the end of the day and the roads got a little wet to add to the challenge of not falling off the mountain.

In the end everyone made it to the hotel safely. I only took one photo on the road since it was overcast most of the afternoon but we did stop at one overlook ....
