So you guys are shacking up in Sparta...just 3 hours away from BRMC on Thursday night? I plan to be at BRMC Thursday night (leaving mid-afternoon from work). :D

Yeah, well you are a little closer. We are going to spend most of the day Friday going up and down the section of 221 near Blowing Rock. Speed limit is 55, but I dare you to maintain it!

Turn that 3 hours on Friday into 5... lol!

Edit!!!

what is the edit? I think we can stretch a good full day of riding from Sparta to BRMC. Especially that section of 221. Remember when we stopped there the last time? We didn't have the luxury of time to do it over, but we thought about it. It would be nice to have that section dry and debris free which it wasn't that day. It was still a blast, though!

I definitely agree. Counting on a 5 hour ride. Lol!

Edit was a double post... so I edited it.

Count me in for being at the campground. It is possible that a friend will be following me down to BRMC riding a Harley trike.

I really enjoyed Appalachian Camping meet #1...that is until the Mad Russian took a dive following Griff and me on the way home.

Awesome. Post one edited to add you to the list. See you there.

I definitely won't be there. I found out that the moving company won't be getting our stuff down south until 4-8 days after they load it.

Once I get the FJR off the moving van, I'll stop by BRMC to see the aftermath...see if there are still beer bottle left on the grounds from the previous week.

All y'all have fun...y'hear?

FYI, right now there is a road closure on the BRP just south of MT Mitchell, it is supposed to be open back up by May but you never know. If you're traveling down the parkway you might want to check the parkway website for closures before planning .

My hope is that we're not riding the BRP again. There are too many good roads in the area to ride the BRP all the way down, again. Now, used as a connector would be ok. I certainly hope we don't plan to take that road only.

Averaging 70 mph following Bob down the BRP was a blast...until we hit the traffic, around Asheville. It don't matter much to me what roads we take to get to Cruso.

That was fun. I love the BRP... don't get me wrong. I have little interest in riding it solely, again. Not when there are so many good roads.
