2017 Eclipse and my little town

It looks like we're gonna have company in 5 years. The astronomical experts have been talking about the 2017 and 2024 eclipse paths and whaddya know but they have determined the 2017 optimium viewing totality is in a field just north of Hopkinsville. The field is about 5 miles from my house. The local hotels already have reservations for rooms from folks in Germany and Japan. If that's not enough to make me feel special, the 2024 eclipse's center of totality is just south of Carbondale, IL, where I moved here from. I feel connected in some way. Maybe I better start playing the lottery.

That's pretty cool to be right at the optimum point. Bet your little town gets a lot of attention (and makes a lot of money) from that. The rest of us will have to make do with a little less time in the shade, but most anybody should be able to get a good look. Hope you have clear skies that day.

Hmm, looks like it's going to pass pretty close to La Pine, Oregon. We should all go up there and have a sandwich that day.

It would be a memorable experience to be riding during the eclipse. Not sure I'd want to be with 1000's of crazies at Deal's Gap, though. I guess I'll just be with 1000's of crazies here.
