I was just glad to hear they sold the A as I thought they were only selling the ES. I still think about a new used one (A Model) and having it painted the 07 color and swapping in my 07 suspension parts.

It's one of the oldest tricks in the book, but I still don't like it.
The Toyota salesman, who shall forever be cursed, showed my wife the "air conditioned" seats in the Highlander. Forget the fact that we went there to look at the Rav 4, in which you cannot get A/C seats. Forget the fact that the Highlander requires that you purchase the Limited trim in order to get the A/C seats. Forget the fact that this package includes 6-8 other ******** items that nobody cares about anyway. And forget the fact that the limited package cost $4000.00 more than the XLE.

Yeah.... you read that right.... FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS so my wife can cool her tootsie pop.

Forget all of that. As soon as she felt the A/C seats, it was Katy bar the door....
Happy wife, happy life...when you want a new bike, you can remind her of her $4k cooled seats.

I'll keep my 2010 thanx very much and from the looks of things it will be my last FJR but that's OK because I like the liquid silver beast five speed tranny and all.

Who cares about the color? Look at the advances made <in the already plush, comfortable stock saddle!>
Except for cosmetics, this model appears largely unchanged from 2016. But 2016 was an extraordinary upgrade year between 6-speed trans, slipper clutch, LED lighting, etc.

I can't say I am a fan of the matte finish, but then, I really don't care. I just might have to go after this model year regardless.

I've been misquoted. The context was lost. So sad.

I like the new blue but I found a 2017 with 1400 miles on the bike for 14,500. to me the blue is not worth waiting a few more months and then putting out at least another 3k.. I picked up the 2017 yesterday and rode the 1300 miles to get it home today.... I found out I really like the newer version but I need to farkle it up a bit to fit me... If the 2018 would have been yellow or red I might have waited

I kinda like the matte blue. But not too keen on the mix n match of matt black frame and rear set mixed with other silver parts. Do all the extra parts matte black or leave them silver like the previous blue. Seems like a hodgepodge of parts. Also not keen on the black side body panels under the seat or black tailpiece for same reasons. Should've made those matte blue as well. I like it better than 2017 color but not better than my 2016 color. I agree with the worries about easy to marr matte finish I've seen happen on other bikes and/or good luck color matching.

The thread on this forum that discussed the release of the 2017 garnished over 10,000 views in less than 3 weeks before it died.

This thread has barely exceeded 3200 views.

Correlation? Snake oil? Me thinks not.

I've not been here as long as many of you. But in the 6 years I have, the 2018 has the appearance of being the LEAST exciting model we've seen.

I really think Mama Yammie screwed the pooch on this one.....

So other than the color it looks like the 2016 vs 2018 is exactly the same bike?!?! According to the matrix. Am I missing something here?

Personally, I love the look of the silver 2017 (same as my '03).

Wasn't a fan of the matte blue 2018 when I first saw it but I am starting to really warm up to it. It certainly would stand and out

in the group, no other bike has this colour combination.

You are starting to see more and more bike manufacturers provide the "denims", Matte, and Satin paints. Hardley Davidson is big on it but more and more metrics are going this way. This is a different bit of care that comes with Matte finishes but its not harder..... just different. The pics make the 18 blue appear almost "satiny".......

No one will obviously trade an existing FJR of different colour for this just for the colour but I can see some holding off updating for a year to see if gloss comes back.

Me? Not a problem cause I'll be going from Matte grey FJ to blue matte FJR...... I like it.

wrong, that may be my only reason to trade up. I want a blue bike.

couldn't make a deal on a leftover'16 last week so I'll be eyeing this new 18 when one arrives.

Given everything they've done to the bike in the last 5 years, did you really expect anything but BNG this year? I'm just happy it's still for sale. I don't think it's a big seller or money maker for the company, and the strategy to sink $$'s into developing the giant new V-Twin "transcontinental tourer" is probably a smart business decision. I must say that big barge has me intrigued for putting around in Grand Teton and Yellowstone in the summer....

IL4 is a plus for me. I've ridden the twins and triples and don't prefer them for the purpose for which I choose the FJR. Around-town hooliganism, sure!

For me it's between moving over suspension and other mods to a Cherry Cherry, vs. getting an ES and living with it stock.

So, I wait... :)

Well..... there I gone and done it! I put a deposit down on the 2018 ES and will be trading in my FJ-09. I did ask if there were any 2017 ES's left in Ontario and I was told they are all sold. No worries..... kind of wanted the Matte Blue anywho. Yup, I did what I said I wouldnt do and that is buy it (the matte blue) sight unseen. I'm crazy that way!! ;-p

Guess I'll have to change the avatar soon.......

Totally agree with Warchild, Ross Kean and Canoe head. Bundling saftey features with other unnecessary items has been a sore point with me for a long time. Automobile manufacturers have abused this practice for years and I think Yamaha picked up the idea from them. Sad to see them do this.

^^^^ Hopefully you will not have to change your mind after you see that matte finish on an otherwise fine bike!!
