I don't usually think about the wheels that much. But for some reason the black wheels were dull to me. So I powder coated them and the calipers. Wasn't sure if I would like it or not. I thought they turned out really nice. The wheels needed it but the red calipers were personal. It even looks much better in person.

I really appreciate the work that Brandon did at H M ELLIOTT INC in Mooresville, NC and Team Charlotte in Charlotte, CA for taking off the wheels and bearings and the calipers. Caliper had to be rebuilt.

Now if Yamaha would just send me the cases and the trunk!! 😳

I like the silver to, don't know if I'd have messed with the calipers tho just because of the exspense.

Looks nice, that metallic really sparkles!

I saw some marks on the front rim and wondered what they were until I realized they were shadows from the rubber tire nibs.

There were some at the top that looks like flaws in the powdercoat??
(or maybe just dirt)

I’ve had great experiences with Team Charlotte as well.

Powder coat definitely gives it some extra pop. Nice!
Hey that is great! Do you live in the Charlotte area. I have a friend from racing that works there. Now a lot more friends there now. I wasn't sure if what I had envisioned in my head was going to work or not. Very happy w/ it. Thank you

I hope it is dirt!! Ha! I will go look. I have a very close up video of both wheels after it was finished and it is flawless. I got to see the whole process and it was done in a very clean environment. The cleaning process of the wheels is pretty incredible. But, I will check. Thanks!

The PC wheels and calipers... outstanding job! I want to do mine now. I have the liquid graphite '15. I want to do my wheels in something eye catching, maybe a bright orange, red or white, not sure yet. When it comes time to rebuild my calipers, I'll end up doing them when they're taken off, I'm no where near that though. Seeing yours, great inspiration!
Has anyone done theirs in red, orange or white? If yes, wanna share a few pics?

Well thank you! I appreciate it. I was sweatin' it wondering what it was going to look like. I'm liking it more everyday and I loved it the first day! Ha! You know that silver like mine would really look good on your bike I think. But you have to do what you like. I usually don't mess w/ my bikes. Just maintain them and put MANY miles on them. But I'm glad I messed w/ it this time. Please let me know when you decide to get it done.

They were just dirty. I don't think the powder coat could be more perfectly done. I think it is most likely the fluid they put on the tires sometimes when they are putting them back on the rim and the person didn't wipe it down good. Thanks for point it out.

Yep, I’m in Rock Hill just south of the border. Run up to Team Charlotte for parts and gear. Wife bought her MT07 there and did her first riding there with Girls Grom Wild.

That is awesome! I go through there quite a few times to go to tracks in GA an FL. Have a friend who lives there. Also met another FJR guy who lives in the area where you are. I actually met him at Team Charlotte. I met another FJR guy who lives in Booneville I think. Close to Elkin. We have had breakfast together and gone on a really good ride. I'm stoked about your wife learning to ride. Awesome! And the MT07 is a great bike. I rode it when I spent a couple of days w/ Yamaha Champions Riding School. I also just met the Girls Grom Wild ladies this past Sunday afternoon when I picked up my newly powder coated bike. Katie is a trip! Ha! Hopefully someday we can get together and ride. :)

Wow. That silver is nice! My 2003 has black rims also, but after seeing your re-color, I'm thinkin'......

I've DIY'd all the maintenance since new, Trust issues. 😵‍💫 I was removing the rear tire a couple years ago with spoons, plastic bottle pieces "to protect the wheel" and zip-ties; which totally worked awesome on the front tire. The rear however, not so much, way too stiff. I fought it to death and finally got it off. During the battle, the rim gets a couple little scratches near the lip, towards the center line, so a pinstripe kit can't cover it up. A normal person seeing the wheel probably wouldn't notice, but I know it's there. Bought a matte black touch-up paint pen, but haven't used it yet, too busy driving the bike around. The pen will have to wait until spring. I love the look of the bike and keep wanting her to stand out, not just because I think she'd look amazing with bright wheels, and if it keeps one ****** from slamming into me, it was worth it. What better way to command attention from a nose buried in a phone than to constantly switch lane position and do the wheels in a bright color offsetting the dark grey? When I see others putting in the kind of effort, thought and attention to detail, e.g. the red calipers, it's inspirational and motivating. Again, fantastic job!

I have a 2014 and had my wheels powder coated silver then a clear on top of that. Would highly recommend the clear on top, makes the silver flake really pop. Just can't do black wheels. I also took the time to sand off all the letters and markings off the wheels before powder coat and they clean up so much easier.

TY for the pics.
Very nice, and makes it pop! I hate the black wheels as well. BTW, I've always loved the '14 FJR in that red flake. If I only had the option... 🥺

I love it. "Too busy driving the bike around". That's me. I love riding so much. Thank you for the encouragement and for the hard you put in to caring for your bike.

That looks awesome my man!! So good against the red. Yes, mine also has the clear coat. I guess it is part of the powder coating process. Never even thought of sanding off the numbers and letters! That is attention to detail! Nice work!
