A few years ago I was riding in Alabama and I had the good fortune to stumble across 29 Dreams (https://www.29dreams.com). Had a great time there and have been on their mailing list ever since.

Unfortunately today I got the newsletter which announces that they can't afford to stay in business any longer.

-------------------------------------------------------

Times are hard for everyone, and 29 Dreams is not exempt from the perils of a difficult economy either. We are indeed not exempt.

Try as we may, we just cannot seem to keep our cart out of the ditch. We’re just not able to keep this private country club going. Weather’s a big factor, cash flow, demand for an actual membership or renewals themselves, vendor surcharges, service repair issues, and even some of the simple things, they’ve just caused us to reach the point of not being able to recover financially.

We want you to know, we’ve written this particular newsletter a few times. We’ve shed a million tears, and we’ve had some heated arguments too. We’ve been around for awhile, and none of this is easy. Not even, kind of easy, or, sort of easy. It just plain sucks.

We’ve been here for eight years. We can’t believe it ourselves. That’s a while in anyone’s book. We look over the customer pictures and we see all kinds of faces, people we’ve met, people we’ve come to love, and yes, a few that we’ve actually asked not to renew their memberships. How did that become a Kodak moment?

Life deals you some blows sometimes. It’s how you handle them long term that counts. Stay positive. And that’s what we’ve done and that’s what we’re doing here at 29. We’re staying positive. We’ve knocked down every brick wall erected in front of us. We’ve never given up. We’ve played our hand to the best of our ability. But financially, this time, it’s over, it’s time to say when. Our website www.29dreams.com will have more information listed during the coming weeks, including our new hours of operations, especially during weekdays.

Thank you also for being a part of 29 Dreams, we hope we get to say goodbye in person. Sunday November 9th, 2008 at 6:00 PM the doors of 29 Dreams Motorcycle Resort will close for the final time.

If you find yourself in the neighborhood before November 9th, stop by and say goodbye in person. It’ll be good to thank each of you in person.

Ride Safe,

The Staff at 29

The problem (as I see it) Tim was doing this as an expasion year. He had added more parking, cabins, etc.

He had bands playing (why I don't know) but I figure his expansion was prob the straw on the camels back when economic times hit.

Its too bad.

**UPDATE**

I got this update today. The future is looking up!

"The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated"

- Mark Twain

Mark Twain's response, when he read his own premature obituary, seems like a good way to start this newsletter to our loyal members.

Building and managing the Dream, that has become 29 Dreams, has been incredibly demanding, in every conceivable way. Many times Kathy and I have thought it was time to give up and to move on to something that would let us lead more normal lives.

We had reached such a point last Friday, when the newsletter was sent.

But the outpouring of support we received from you, our members, convinces us that we cannot let the Dream die. We are exploring options that we hope will preserve America's best motorcycle resort and all those benefits our members deserve. It will not be easy, but if successful, the effort will have been worth it.

So the Dream lives. The reports of its death were greatly exaggerated. We will keep you advised of the progress we make and hope that with your support 29 Dreams will remain THE destination for motorcyclists in the Southeast.

Tim and Kathy Langley

GREEAAT! :clapping: I very much enjoyed the place.... been there several times. The ride down to the place is fun and very technical. :glare:

29Dreams has been the victim of bad weather this year. We have been there on marginal weekends and the place has been empty. Fortunately though, last Sunday was a banner day. I counted 150 bikes + my FJR. Tim and Kathy are great people, even though he owns a Duc.

I'm having deja vu all over again.

They went through a similar time a few years ago if I remember. One of the hurricanes/storms or something wrecked the place. They couldn't get it cleaned up, but then out of the shadows, came this overwhelming group with support and the labor to get it done.

Or am I remembering a different moto camp ground.

It's not easy running these places. That's for sure.
