I was considering selling the FJR and buying a new Super Tenere earlier this year.

After much shopping and heavy thought, I bought a new KLR today and am keeping the FJR.

For less money I now have a better touring motorcycle and a better off road motorcycle than the Super Tenere.

I just can't ride both at the same time.

So i got mine finally broken in. The SW-Motech gear I had on order was back ordered till later this month. I didn't want to go without, so I ordered PivotPegz footpegs, I didn't know if I would like the pivoting of the footpegs, but I really like that feature. I ended up with nomad rider crash bars. I liked those better, and they arrived in 4 days. I did upgrade some of the lights to LED's because I wanted a bit brighter lights in the instrument panel, and wanted to be able to see the turn signal better, for the times when I leave it on. Overall I have found this bike a ton of fun and have only ridden lightly on some dirt roads because the bike wasn't broken in and didn't have the protection on it. I still have the stock skid plate on it because I'm waiting to see what nomad rider are going to offer. If they don't end up producing theirs I will go with JNS for my skid plate. Overall I have had a ton of fun fiddling with the bike. Our weather in Minnesota has gotten cooler, which gave me the chance to get all the work done on it. I hope to get out and explore some of the state forests, and trails.

It was nice to see so many people in the forum also ride KLR's. I think it makes a great compliment to the FJR. It allows me to go where I wouldn't want to on the FJR.

I got my original 02 back this weekend. Looking forward to a complete service and miles of smiles.

I now have 750 miles on it. The best thing i was surprised by is the nice road manners, and comfortable seating position. The FJR actually felt cramped when I took it out after riding the KLR. for me this makes a perfect compliment to the FJR. I Saw someone write about the VStrom. I really liked that, but in order to get the wifes buy in (if shes ok it makes having the toy that much more enjoyable) it was too similar to what the FJR looks like. But i wish they did make a cross of the KLR with the vstrom motor. Kind of a lightweight Klr twin. The KLR filled what i was looking for in every category except a twin. Mostly liquid cooled, light, and off road capable, while being reasonably priced. I have so far come to really enjoy the decision, Now after its got the protection installed i would like to start going offroad
