35th Tokyo Motorcycle Show

Hey guys.

I went to the Tokyo Motorcycle Show this past weekend. Took a bunch of pics. Now, it's a lot of work to put all these pics up, so I'll admit that I've done it once for another forum I frequent (a bit more than here, but I'm working on that as the 'summer of touring' comes up), so I'm hoping most of it copies and pastes nicely.

So anyway, here's a bunch of pics.... hope this is interesting to some of you....

starting off is our hero, trying to look cool on this thing....

Complete with vanity mirror under seat.

The BMW line-up has certainly improved over the years.

I always struggled with the FZ1 vs. Fazer...which one is which and is there a difference? Well, FZ1 in white, FZ1 Fazer in Red....

doing my best to be a bad-ass on the rocket III.... that bike is awesome! and very large. but if I had to do a cruiser type thing, this would have to be it.

I'm starting to like these funny looking things. This one looks to be a new-ish model. I think....

These covered scoots are becoming more popular with the kids it seems.

The Supermoto is high on my list of bikes to buy. This was a 990 I think....which sounds a bit new. (was 950, eh?)

ok, this is a lot for one page load. hmmm. need some filler comments.....

well, for one, there was no FJR there in the yammy section. I guess that's just not a big seller here. Actually, I'm not sure if it is a seller at all, only the re-import gig. I suspect this may have changed very recently. But don't really know much about it.

Here's that crazy biplane from suzuki. would be neat if they actually made one!

They had a demo area for JAF, which is basically the same as AAA, CAA, RAC, AA.....depending on where you live. So I signed up for it.... been a while. Tough to do in English, so had help there....!

Nice pictures and report.

Its interesting to me that they show both the FZ-1 and the Fazer.

Here in North America they are both called FZ-1 (either "naked" or with fairing). In Europe they are called Fazer.

No FJR? Yet Kawi shows the C-14? Is Sport Touring a big market in Japan?

And, Colin, you look "cute" on the Honda, though you'd then need to buy color-matched riding gear.

Actually, I think the manufacturers are looking at the lady-rider market. Though I think the vanity mirror is a bit "over the top", at least they are thinking.

Hopefully James Burleigh will see the custom scooters.....

unfortunately I think it is a 250. I didn't go up to that exact one, but they don't make bigger ones for here anyway.

ok, so they are both FZ1 in the states.... I remember in London it was just a fazer. pretty funny how the names get all mixed up, it's caused a lot of confusion for that model and a few others for me...!

They had an FJR at Motegi, motoGP. Sport touring big? Not really. At least I don't think so. There is certainly a big touring market, there are special maps that highlight different 'good' roads for bikes, and offroad ones, as well as campsites and good places to eat. So that is awesome. But touring, you see everything, little 250 nakeds and offroadies. cruiser type things (harley + japanese makes), some bigger ones like the kwak and FJR here and there, VFRs, etc. The neat thing is everyone pretty much gets along no matter what the make is....

of course nobody really waves at all. so it's even that way. <_<

The FJR's sold locally here are Euro models, unlike the trade show models in the pix <;^0

hey dude....seoul. I hear bad things about riding there, like can't go on the highway.... kind of annoying if you need to get from A to B.

Where in Seoul are you? I've been a few times for biz, I tend to go by a big base near to the Hyatt....also went by a string of dealers on the way across some big bridge over there...KTM and others.... I never had time to do much of anything else besides eat and work tho.

I'm around those days, but in Tokyo.... probably similar to you, all about work, eh? Won't be able to get away around then.... Do you know any riders there? There are a handful there....

I don't really care for 90% of BMW's bikes.

Ducati makes some of the hottest bikes EVER.

The B-King is ugly.
