P.S. Installed the 120/70/17 on the front and the 190/50/17 on the rear. If anyone wants to put the argument for or against the 190 to bed, PM me a couple days before you get to Knoxville TN and you can ride my FJR for the day. Couldn't get the 180 in before the weekend and I had some riding to do. :derisive:

Just bought my RoadSmarts at my local Cycle Gear store.

On sale for $285 set - $20 off coupon - $50 gift card won at EOM dinner = $230 out the door (no road hazard)

Have local mechanic that will remove my tires off the bike and mount/ balance the new ones for $70

Total $300

SWEET!!! :yahoo:

Kind of had the same experience last weekend, was on a four day trip and stopped and Desert Valley Power sports where I bought my bike. I needed a new front tire and thought I might as well get one there. Well, they charged me $171 for the tire and $72 to mount and balance for a PR2. Don't know wheather that was excessive or not, but it seemed like it to me. Won't be buying anything there again.

Just picked up a set of the Road 2's from the only place in the world that has them... apparently.
Might I make a suggestion? Collect the links above, and any other links you find in the future, bring up the site, then save it on "bookmarks",or "favorites".When the time comes to order something, just scan though for better deals....Just a FYI...

There certainly is a large variation in tire prices and the cost to install them at dealers. I had a set of PR2's installed last Thurs. at Yamaha of Harrison, AR while on a trip. $138.95 for the front, $167.95 for the rear, and $60.00 bucks for labor. Best part was the rims were not scratched.

My local dealer charged me $86.00 for *each* tire - and I had even bought the tires from them!

WOW. I am sure Aviator wont need that whole bottle and be able to share it with you. :) Did you not ask their rate?

60 per tire is what everyone charges if you bring the whole bike to them. I am a cheap skate and bring tires only. Manage to get them doen for 25-30 per tire.

I found a place in town that would mount and balance them for $35 each on the bike. Ride in, ride out. It's a small shop, so I avoided the prices at the stealership.

...so I guess I will only need half the bottle.

I pre-arranged the tire changeout/oil and filter change with Yamaha of Harrison before I left MN. I had enough tread left on the Z6's to get down there, but not enough for ripping around the Ozarks for three days then ride home. My local dealer's shop rate is $87 per hour, Yamaha of Harrison's shop rate is $60 per hour. Oil and filter prices were cheaper in AR too.

I can bring tires in to my local dealer to have them installed on the bike. Will have to pay the full shop rate per hour plus all the add on fees such as shop supplies, EPA disposal fees, etc.
