Here are some pics (sorry I cant figure out how to resize) of damage done at The Dragon yesterday. Kinda bummed, I was told this bike would lean all the way to the pegs on the front fairings.

No damage on the front suspension, I just wanted to point out how much shock recoil I had yesterday:

Well, it looks like your pegs are scraped...so you had some warning...I'm not sure what you are asking?

If you want a "leanier" bike...we already had a thread on that before. The FJR is a sport touring bike that will ride all day and all night AND have fin on the twisties. I have fun on the twisties on it anyway...therefore, it is set up for comfort more than say a sport bike...so yeah, the pegs are gonna be lower than a sport bike.

But you knew that already I'm sure.

If you want to not scrape hard parts and still run the FJR, maybe look at suspension settings and aftermarket if the stock doesn't "do it" for you.

 
What pegs on the front fairing???

If you are talking add on Hwy pegs it would depend on how they are monuted. How much you grind the hard parts is directly related to riding style. :)

I understand the foot pegs are going to hit. I assumed that was all that was scraping. But the shift lever, right exhaust pipe, and kickstand took a hit. I was not expecting that. The suspension was in full stiff. I will try to stiffen the swingarm shock nut for more firmness.

I would love to see what upgrades I can do to the suspension. But I am kinda nervous about spending a lot of money and then still end up dragging parts.

 
No, those aren't stock...they're frame sliders, looks like maybe the OES version.

Upgraded suspension will help tremendously, as will Coming Unglued <-- clicky the linky

 
I guess I was not in full stiff. I just found the front and rear dampener adjustments. NOW I am in full stiff (giggidy.)
FYI, the stock suspension is well regarded as being under sprung for the vast majority of people. The adjustment you found on the rear is simply rebound damping (no compression adjustment on the stock shock, and "preload" is only served by the Hard/Soft lever).

No doubt aftermarket suspension will help but your riding a 650# sport TOURING bike, if you really want to lean get a R6 or R1.

It's all about the right tool for the job, eh?

220 lbs. 6 ft. Kinda beefy. I have not tried leaning off the bike, I was mostly in the seat.

I wanted a bike that would do it all. I live in McDonough. 2.5 - 3 hours from Deals Gap. I thought a Sport Tourer was the answer. I wanted something I could be comfortable on for long trips and then get into the turns (aggresively)when I got there.

I did not want to scrape things that were not supposed to scrape. I now know the limits of my bike and I know what to expect for the next time. Out of 318 turns, the bike scraped in 2 turns. Not bad for not being a super sport.

I still am extremely happy with the bike and plan on keeping her for a while. One day, I will ride the Dragon on a TRUE super sport (R6).

Sheesh, don't we all.

I have a KLR for the dirt, a Supermoto T for the fun twisty stuff and the Feejeer for the best all around bike.

Sac Mike's suggestion is what you need. A good track day to learn what you can and can't do with a FJR. After my first track day at Sears point on the FJR I learned I needed another bike for the twisty's only.

 
Thanks guys. I have Road Atlanta nearby and Barber Motorsports about 2 hours away. I will look up a leaning class. Also Atlanta Motor Speedway is 15 minutes.
