As I was backing out of a parking place at the pharmacy today, an elderly lady was backing out also and turned too quickly and knocked me over. No serious damage to the bike, other than a few scratches on the left pannier and mirror. My engine and bar sliders protected the bike well.

I was wearing all my gear but still bruised my left elbow pretty badlly and twisted my ankle. As I'm typing this, it seems one of my ribs isn't feeling so hot also. At 73 years of age, I don't take falls as well as I did at 30. lol

The lady gave me her insurance information but I probably won't even file a claim. "Tis the Season", you know.

check it out. fixing it back to pre-wreck could be a grand investment. not something you should eat either in the repair or in the lost resale value.

Ok so an "elderly" lady whacked ya??? an yer only 73? Crap Monty, I hope i can walk at 73 let alone ride a tricycle..

You should find a good trial lawyer.....

Hope yer doing ok man

Monty, do you feel it was a shared fault, or were you stationary when she backed into you? Sounds like you were both backing up parallel to each other and she turned into you. Not important, but should be avoidable. Take care of yourself, and keep your head on a swivel. They come from all directions out there.

Gotta chime in as well; tis the season, but tomorrow is coming.

Glad you are doing okay, but getting check out is the right thing to do.

73 or 30, get it all checked.

Monty, sorry to hear about this (well, actually, sorry that it happened. Please get yourself checked out ASAP! A few years back a good friend of many folks here took a tumble, dusted himself off, rode his FJR home, switched to his V-STROM and rode to lunch (I know 'cause I was riding with him). Took him a while (days, weeks...I forget) to finally go to the doc only to learn that he should have gone in immediately (rib and lung issues, IIRC).

In short, it's wonderful to hear that you think you are fine but we'd all be happier if you would have it confirmed.

Happy New Year!

After you're convinced that your OK, check mirror alignment. It is possible to bend the front cowl stay in a tip over. You'll notice your mirror out of alignment and the fairing seams might appear a little tighter on that side.

Glad you're ok and gunny most other posts.

Don't take any chances, get checked out and open a claim. Other soft tissue damage can take weeks to show up. I'm no lawyer or ambulance chaser, but being nice here could cost you in the long run. You're not being mean, or bad for opening a claim, that's what insurance is for. Take care of yourself and motorcycle.

Good luck, heal quickly.

Hey, guys, thanks very much for your concern. I took your advice and got examined by my regular physician yesterday. Outside of a bruise on my elbow, he couldn't find anything else wrong. I did get the usual, "you're too damn old to be riding a motorycle" lecture, but just passed it by. Thanks again for your kind words and concern.

Happy New Year to all.
