Nice. Seriously; nice. Cops serve too, you know, and sometimes in far more dangerous environments than service folks.

NOW ... what about the cop, the skimmer, and the jarhead? Did the three of them walk into a bar after that?

As far as the bar, I am hoping for next weekend!

This is something to be very proud of, congratulations. The military is steeped in traditions such as this. I have never had the pleasure of being part of this tradition but I have 2 teenage boys so I may get that chance. I too am a Navy vet, EN2 but I know my uniform will not fit. It does fit my 13 year old pretty well though.

I've been to a couple of these, the best one being my son's commissioning. It's a very special moment for all concerned. Josh had one of his instructors at UTEP, where he ROTC'd for his commission. He had his grandfather pin his insignia. I didn't do anything but stand there watching and cry.

(Speaking of proud, and not trying to step on toes, but Josh was in the top 2% of his class in 2007. Not at UTEP..... top 2% in the country!)

A young lady in his class received her salute from her dad, an active sergeant-major! That man's uniform sleeves were BUSY!!!! I'm not sure you're supposed to hug your enlisted and cry after the salute, but as proud as I was to simply watch it happen for Josh, I can't imagine that father's joy at his participation!

Very very cool thing there, both for you to be able to participate, and for the recognition given you by the young officer for your support and encouragement!
