Occasionally trying to get work done
You can get everything from McMaster-Carr. 2" diameter nylon rod, $16/ft, 1/2" x 1/2" rare earth magnets, $16 each (you can get these much cheaper elsewhere)

Keep in mind that the bolts holding you sliders in may not be magnetic depending on the grade of steel used. I also polished the head of the slider bolts to give a smooth surface for the magnets to stick to.
I also have some quick-release pins that I may use instead of the magnets to hold them in place. Worried about vibration loosening them up with only the magnets to hold them. Also worried that they may loosen depending on how I put my feet on them.
I've got another plan in the works to lower them several inches using a small metal plate as a hanger. They would mount the same way in the slider, but the peg would be below the slider, which would probably be more comfortable. Might get to that over one of the upcoming holidays.
