If one place only...I'd beg borrow and steal to get to CFR in the Canadian Rockies.

It's our 25th wedding anniversary this December...and wifey wants to go to some place warm and sandy in Jan or Feb. I'm hoping to have a 2-phase celebration with the 2nd phase being in Canada...maybe a fly and ride for her. This trip will be a long shot for me...but with gas prices presently low, this might be the best time ever to try to get wifey to do this trip$$.

However, one trip I KNOW I will be making is to Long Island, NY to pay respects at certain bridge on Long Island...and hopefully meet Chris, TheAxeman. I'm hoping to go around Memorial Day. If others want to come along and meet to ride...that's fine. But if not, I will ride alone.

Other possibles...

Though I'm a California native (born-n-rasied in Fresburg CA), my family and I recently relocated to PA (2004). My mom and dad (from Fresno, CA) rode their Goldwing out here in 2007 and enjoyed Sturgis on their way home. I would like to do something similar. That is, maybe take the southern route to CA; travel up CA and take the northern route home.

Until the Mrs is convinced to let me be gone for 2+ weeks for a road trip, I'll have to settle on doing Nova Scotia for 2009 ;)

That America's Byways book of maps has me thinking about the Great River Road and the Natchez Trace. From KC I could go to Nashville, head south on the trace then swing over to the GRR and up to the headwaters then on home from northern MN to KC.

or head back to Santa Fe again and Taos and up to CO heading west then north then east to RMNP then on home.

I'm planning on riding all over hell next year but ---just one place?

I WILL be making a trip back to Southern Utah. And this time, I'm TAKIN' MY F*CKING TIME and looking at everything.

I'm NOT hurrying along to GET somewhere.

I'm gonna camp a lot, stop early in the day, and drink a bunch of beer under the summer stars, and talk to my bike beside the campfire.

Yup. That's my plan.

Canada.

I've wanted to visit "extreme NorCal" friends ('Cuz we adopted them and made them honorary NorCal riders!) for some time and experience the Canuckian Rockies.

Perhaps learn some local jargon, eh!

Mebbe I should call "Passports-R-Us.

During 2008 I was able to ride 15 western states, and Western Canada. In 2009 I plan on touring SE Canada, New England and the eastern seaboard as far down as South Carolina. That should get me a total of 35 states and 3 provinces, all in 2 years. Anyone want to tag along all or part of the way? Phil

I've ridden Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

My annual trips are to the Hill Country of Texas, east TN-west NC (Dragon, Cherohala, Blue Ridge Parkway) Great Smokey Mountain National Park, northern North Carolina Blue Ridge Parkway, and Kentucky.

I plan to ride to Vicksburg Battlefield (MS), Shiloh (TN), north Alabama, and Key West, FL.

I guess if I have to pick one, it would be the 9 day Key West trip.

one of the best rides ever for me was to go from sacramento to death valley.

we did it in march where the temps going over the mountains was in the high 30's / low 40's -

whereas on the desert floor it was (only) 90.

we took in some wonderfully beautiful country.

it was cool to do it in 4 days - taking in Manzanar (the internment camp) along the way.

I have this urge to ride to Spartanburg, SC in August
So, you really want to see what all the east coast humidity is about, eh? Well, when you come, don't say that you weren't fairly warned about coming thisa' way in August.

I'd love to meet up with ya' but August is a Heidi no-ride zone.

Really, April or May would be better,
April or May is a bit early for Iggy to arrive in Spartanburg, as the Start Line there for the 2009 Iron Butt Rally isn't open until mid-late August. :D

Sadly, I'm pretty sure I can't do the ride I want to: Through the grand canyons.

Instead I'm going to try and do a rafting trip for my 25th birthday, if they open it up to the public by then. (may be closed due to seasonal availability)

Aside from that, a certain very, very twisty and famous road with a tree of shame... starts with a D... and a trip up from San Francisco all the way along the coast over a few days. Nothing like riding alongside a body of water for a few days to calm the mind and soul.

The 2009 Road Trip is probably going to be a tour of Montana and surrounding area. Having seen so many wonderful photos posted on the forum, it looks like a really cool place to ride a bike. If time permits, I'd like to ride northwards along the coast from our So. Cal home and then turn East. The coast road is a classic, as far as we've been so far. Would love to see some more of it. Then the route home would take in some of the sights of Colorado and Utah.

Well, it was just a suggestion for non-suffering, anyway.

First, let me start by saying I was LMAO reading this post. Bust..., I need to do some *** kickin' too, maybe you could swing up thru NE OH and lend me a hand.

So I stumbled on dcarvers trip report to NAFO 2008. If I had only one trip in 2009, that would be it, except for the 120 *F in AZ. Absolutely beautiful landscape and roads. Although I need to tie that in with the Ohio Ramble. :clapping:
