If you could only take one ride next year, where would it be? Feel free to provide details.

Yeah, it's a scary thought. ;)

Maybe I should ammend the question to say "trip" but I'm interested in hearing where rider destination priorities are ....local or long-distance ... and, if long-distance, where exactly?

I have a guess as to how the responses are going to return but want to see if I'm right. Besides, maybe I'll be enticed to add some destinations to my to-do list.

I have this urge to ride to Spartanburg, SC in August....and purposely not know where I'm going after that, but do know that I'll ride about 11,000 miles in 11 days around the U.S. and Canada to places I haven't seen but always wanted to go. Chances are I'll finish that ride in California somewhere...and then ride home by Labor Day. I shall call it the Iron Butt Rally and turn on my SPOT tracker for others to watch.

Should be fun. ;)

Shoot straight out to Nova Scotia, then pick my way back across canada, stopping where ever I feel like it

My first choice would be to go with Santa on the east coast ride as in the previous post. But seriously I would like to ride the California, Oregon and Washington coast up into British Columbia and in the afternoon...

Hum...

EOM/WV - Mostly because I know the roads, people, accomodations and food are fantastic. Ya, its a known quantity, but the time I had this past Sept was just that good and their was so much I didn't get to see.

Hmm. Right now I'm planning on taking a trip from Seattle to Lewiston, ID, across highway 12 into Montana, then down through Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Flaming Gorge and into eastern Colorado. Across Colorado and up through Rocky Mountain National Park and down to Colorado Springs. After that the wife will fly home and I'll head home in a rapid fashion to be back at work on time. Now if I end up not having a job at that time for some reason (there are a few scenarios for that) then I'd save the airplane money and head off to see Utah and loop home through Northern Cali.

Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, all of that part of the country. You know, parts of the country, I only know by pictures.

All great responses so far! But too bad I started this thread .... now my urge to ride is so bad that it's starting to hurt. <_<

You know I have never been to Apple river canyon and I lived just a few miles from it. Thats going to be one of my destinations this summer and the surrounding Galena area. No details as of yet but it'll be a nice easy ride with lots of pics. I will probably stay close next year and just explore the midwest.

So far for 2009 I plan to attend:

1) Ohio Ramble

2) Cats and Daks

3) WFO

4) EOM

If I could only attend one of those I'd pick EOM with WFO as a close second.

We will probably go over to Salt Lake city for the SBK races. We're also thinking about a trip from CA to Dallas to visit relatives, then maybe over to southern Arkansas to see a friend, then from there, find an interesting route back home.

We'll see!

By this time I usually have several trips planned... but I don't right now. The only one that I have on the calendar is the Ohio Ramble. Oh, of course EOM is on the books. I try never to miss that one.

Oh, leaf peeping... I am sure that I will go leaf peeping next year.

EOM

Ohio Ramble

NNY to MS to LA and back home.

If just one, it would be to MS and LA, my kids are there.

So, you really want to see what all the east coast humidity is about, eh? Well, when you come, don't say that you weren't fairly warned about coming thisa' way in August.

I'd love to meet up with ya' but August is a Heidi no-ride zone.

Really, April or May would be better,

Heidi
