Excellent Road Report.
I haven't had the privilege of meeting you Tyler, but I feel a connection to this report.
I see several friends I really like to ride with - Vic, Rob, Marie.
I see lots of places I have ridden and enjoyed.

Thanks for following along, Dan... I've fallen behind and am now just catching up on this RR! Hope to meet you maybe this year at one of the various gatherings... B)
Thursday, Oct. 12th
We really tried to have a crappy day but it just wasn't to be... more visual plunder... up into the Smoky Mountains to join the surprising crowds of leaf peepers for a Thursday but we managed to dodge the car trains and enjoy the splendor…
Then made our way over to Cherohala Pkwy which was magnificent on all counts...
Visited Bald River Falls (thanks Turk!!) before arriving in Copperhill for dinner and a stay with friends...
Tomorrow we'll start making our way to New Orleans...

Friday, Oct. 13th
Today were some lovely back roads (route courtesy of Turk) complete with gentle rolling hills through farm country and complete with lots of waterfall sightings... spent the night with Turk and Jana including a great dinner out with live music…
Definitely a good place to stop for a bite!
And live entertainment to boot…
Several waterfall stops… I think these are Little River Falls…
And, iirc, this is 16A… an awesome side route and absolutely no one on the roads!

Noccalula Falls named after an Indian princess whose father chose her a husband that she didn’t love so she threw herself off the cliff… kinda drastic but it seems like it was a thing back then as this was not the only place to document such an event…
Our hosts for the evening… these two are the best!!
We had a great meal, listened to some fantastic music, and had a very good night’s rest…

Saturday, October 14th
Today we jetted through Alabama and into Mississippi to follow the Natchez Trace Pkwy which was lovely as it traversed along open meadows and shady sections through the trees giving us some respite from the humidity and heat... lunch in French Camp and landed in Ridgeland for the evening... New Orleans tomorrow!
Can you tell we were excited to have a hotel with air conditioning??

Sunday, Oct. 15th / Monday, Oct. 16th
Great past couple of days... Sunday we rode from Ridgeland to New Orleans trying to dodge rainstorms, sometimes not so successfully... but it was warm and kind of refreshing!
Had to stop for a photo opp here of course…
A big rainstorm came in so we waited it out at a gas station and had company…
The guy that owned this car said he would never drive it in the rain… lol
While waiting, we tried some of these… not a fan!
Got to visit with Mike Oliver/Patriot and catch up with him... so glad to see him looking much better!
Finally, landed in New Orleans to visit with my friend, Natalie, and meet her hubby, Matt, and see their beautiful new home.
On Monday, Lydia headed off to drop off her bike and then head for home after a great shared nine days... Natalie and I wandered New Orleans for a bit and for caught up on our lives then a home cooked meal by Matt... perfect relaxing day!!

You can always hear some really wonderful music in the square…
Cool architecture…
Tourist stuff…
And hats galore…
We shared some vino and savored our time together… the next day I would be heading to visit Redfish and Pants and I was very much looking forward to seeing what they had in store for me… and I was not disappointed…

Oh no. I had sort of hoped this one would stay covered in dust and forgotten. I got a feeling this won't go well for me.
BTW, that was not Desoto Falls. That was Little River Falls in the Little River Canyon.
Desoto Falls is actually just a few miles south of Mentone where you ate at the Wildflower Café.

Boiled peanuts are very good when cold, but rolling-on-the-floor delicious when warm. They are also the perfect accompaniment to beer and college football. From the internet, a sacrosanct source of truth:
Compared to raw or dry-roasted peanuts, boiled peanuts are lower in calories and fat and also have a higher concentration of nutrients that protect your cells from oxidation. Although they are an acquired taste, according to the What's Cooking America website, boiled peanuts make a healthy addition to your diet.
Maybe we can find some in Maggie Valley from EOM? Everybody's cells need protection from oxidation.

As long as I have a way of washing my hands nearby, I can sit and eat them all day! But not the ones from the Quickie Mart in the styrofoam cup. You gotta get the ones from the old guy along the roadside boiling them up hot and fresh in an old black cast iron witches pot over an open campfire.
