Alternate route to Vegas from San Diego

I am think of taking alternate route to Vegas from San Diego this time. I was going to get off the 15 at Baker then head towards Tepoca then to Vegas.

What will I find out there?

Why not go up thru 29 Palms, Amboy rd to Amboy, up the Kelbaker to Kelso, turn left then across Cima Dome? You can go east thru Searchlight or north on 15 from there.

last time I rode through Baker the temp on the giant thermometer was 125. So hot I had to wear full finger gloves just to be able to use the controls, not to mention the hot air on my fingers was unbearable without. Cooked a stator too.

Yeah, what he said. If you go to the west/north of 15 towards Tecopa you'll find either A. a really long ******* ride OR B. dirt. The Old Spanish Trail highway has always appealed to me, but I think it's dirt / sand.

But if you're into a slightly longer and possibly hot ride, there is a nice option to go to Death Valley Junction and then over to Pahrump. Not a bad ride at all.
