I noticed that you have small bubbling areas around the two screws on the speedo dial. My '04 has the bubbling in that location and also around the two screws in the tacho. I suppose the screws and the metal behind them absorb more radiant heat and the dials gets hotter there.

That's incredible mileage. Can you tell us if you have replaced any non routine maintenance items?
Stator, RR, Chain, Tensioner, Fuel Pump, Ujoints, wheel bearings, things like that.
Wow, how awesome is that. I'm also wondering if you could post your maintenance schedule and non routine maintenance as asked above. This makes me feel good about keeping my 04 ST1300 with 84,000 mi. for a good while longer. I only have 29,000 on my 08 FJR so have long way to go with it. Big Congrats and how many more miles for yours?

Cool.....
How long until we see 333333?

R
What?! Are you freaking nuts? Another 111111 miles on this POS! No Freakin Way!

PS you need gas soon.
As Paul Harvey would have said, the rest of the story is that it was blinking reserve. A couple of the pics I took show NO fuel bars as it was blinking off. Fueled up 20 miles later with 6.20 gallons.

Holy Mackeral! Congrats on having the stamina to rack up that kind of mileage. One question all of us enquiring minds want answered though.......How many of those miles were at legal speed?
Senator, I have no recollection.......... ;)

Yeah, those have been there forever. Definitely worse in the summertime. A long, long, time ago I was worried about them, but started looking at other Gen I FJRs and I see the same bubbling on most of them. The bubbles are no worse/bigger now than at 30,000 miles.

Respectable mileage for a cage, outstanding for a bike ! How 'original' is the drivetrain SkooterG ?

As for the drivetrain, the final drive seals have been replaced twice as they would begin to 'weep' and get 'splooge' on the rear wheel. Once at 110k (warranty), and again at 195k. The big maintenance item was cam chain and cam chain tensioner replacement at 110k. All paid for by the Yamaha Extended Warranty.

Edit: Just remembered - a new thermostat at 100k. Original started leaking slowly after the 95k crash.

At 130k or so I replaced the clutch. I most likely could still have the original, but burned mine up doing really aggressive slow speed drills at a local motorcycle training course.

At 140k, the main wiring harness was replaced under warranty after a cooling hose clip's 'tangs' damaged the original.

At 165k, I replaced the starter with a $90 salvage unit. The original started showing signs of getting tired at 140k and progressively got worse.

That's it. Original bearings, fuel pump and pretty much everything else. Except of course for tires! Oh, and headlight bulbs. Been through a bunch of those. The rest is routine maintenace performed pretty much to Yammie schedule - oil change every 4k+ or so, air filter every 12k, rear gear oil at 15k or so. Valve checks performed by dealer every 28k or so. Rear brake pivot lubed several times.

I have been bad with the forks, having only serviced them 5 times in those miles. Fork bushings have been replaced twice.

Of course, I do subscribe to the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' theory so I have never lubed my head bearings, or swingarm pivot bearings.

EDIT oops - you already answered the question

damn that's cool

it's been running that long and at the moment you took that pic, there were 4 bars on the temperature guage so it's obviously not just a highway bike. Says a lot about how bulletproof yamaha made our engines.

I guess my '03 with 23000kms (14K miles) should still be OK for another season or two.

Yep, like everyone else, I'm dying to hear how much / how little you've had to put into it to keep her running all those miles.

Skooter, I can't even get my head around that number! My BMW 325 is 16 years old, I used to drive the shit out of it because I used it for work, and I just turned over 202,000. 222,222 in 6 years, ummm... We know from your post you eat, do you take time out to sleep?

me either - it's amazing. Show me ANY vehicle that can go 357000kms with so few repairs. If it were an FNG and not one of our admins, I wouldn't believe it. Mind you, he is admittedly a purveyor of crooked facts ;)

Thanks! I think we all love our FJRs a little more after reading this.

Amazing. I thought you had to be a 1963 Chevy to have that kind of mileage on a vehicle in the year 2010. But here's the bad news: I was hoping to trade up to a newer model when I got into the low 100s, maybe 130, which at my rate is still years away. So this means I NEVER get to have a new FJR. (And no, God, I don't want you to help me crash my '05 so I can get a new one, but thanks for thinking of me. :innocent: )

New Yamaha advertising tagline: "The Yamaha FJR. The Volvo of sport touring motorcycles." Nice, huh? ;)

Dem is sum surius miles. My hat's off to ya!

I've broken the 100K barrier on 3 different bikes, but have yet to ride that many miles before on any one bike. Thanks for leading the way and showing me that my new FJR is the ONE!!!

I wander down the old US 80 now and again but have never eaten at Sofias. Thanks for the tip.

p.s. Did I mention how great it is to live in AZ? A bad day in Feb. can be remedied by an impromptu ride!! BooYah!!

Holy Preparation H, Batman....that's almost double what I have on my '68 GMC!!

Good to hear what a solid bike Yammie makes!! :yahoo:

Today was one of those days I was in a funk. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed, somebody pissed in my Wheaties, PMS..... I don't know - something! I was a moody bastard in a bad mood.<major snippage>

Waddaya think?
I think it sounds like a normal SkooterG day! :bleh:

Ya kiddin? He just ate Mexican food. He'll be fine.

Where's the food porn, Scoot? We know about the bike... Let's see the food...

And thanks for posting up. We're getting MORE damn snow right now and I don't know when I'll be able to get my next ride in. Nice to know that SOMEone is able to get out and about.
