I am the happy owner of a clean 2006A that I picked up last summer, and I'm loving the ride and ownership experience, as well as the participation on the forum.

PO had, for some unknown reason chosen to install a set of Kuryakyn ISO black and chrome bling handgrips, which I found both visually disturbing and functionally less than stellar. That, and the fact I wanted to install a throttle lock and G2 throttle tube led me to dig into the handlebar ends yesterday after ordering the G2 "Throttle Tamer" for the Feej.

Closing off the ends of the bars was a nice set of stainless steel heavy bar ends which looked good, so those were the first thing to come off as I started my dis-assembly project. Much to my surprise, when I got the right side off, I discovered the bronze insert in the bar end which is the hallmark of the Throttlemeister throttle lock. That, plus a badly butchered stock nylon throttle tube the OP had hacked to get the ISO grips installed...

I had been "on the fence" so to speak about which of the commonly installed throttle locks to install, leaning toward the simple but functional Vista-Cruise because of the price and ease of use. However, if good fortune is going to present me with what appears to be a nearly complete set of Throttlemeister ends, I thought I'd do a little checking around and see what it was going to take to get it fundtional again. Called my son in Seattle to have him check his couple of bikes which have TM throttle assemblies installed, but his are different because they are for clip-on bars that have a simple tapped hole in the end for the weights, not the bored tube ends like on the Feej... No Joy there!

Found the TM website and was disappointed to see they did not show any details about the unit designed for the Feej. Left an e-mail request with Customer Service which was responded to automatically: "Thanks for your inquiry, we'll get right back to you"...

No reponse still this am, so looked up their phone number and gave them a call.

Talked to Fred back in Wisconsin, who was extremely helpful and willing to discuss my situation. We confirmed that I had all the parts I needed, save the nylon/plastic friction ring that slips on over the end of the throttle tube.

Ordered the friction ring and a set of instructions for installation/adjustment. Total: $5.00 including shipping, and it's going out today!

Great big double "Thumbs UP" to both Fred and Throttlemeister!

So shortly I'll have the G2, a set of BMW Sport Grips and a functional TM throttle lock. Will make my upcoming trip to California much nicer.

I love it when a plan comes together!

Thank's for the responses, guys...now I feel like such, like such a post whore! :derisive:

I figure that as long as someone else paid about $130 for the hardware, I might as well give it a try first. If I don't like it, there's always the Vista-Cruise, eh?

Throttlemeister is a good outfit. I took mine off my connie and ordered the adapters for it to fit the fjr. Well I couldn't get it to fit, so after a call to Fred we fiqured out I didn't have the heavy meister (the box I got it in from the previous connie said it was one) They sent me the adapter bolts I needed free of charge!

Congrats on the "find".Checked in to a BW motel room once, and found a 12-pack in the fridge!

Is that the same joy?

I fully support your decision to go with the Beemer grips. They're the greatest.

I love squeezing mine.
I've heard rumors!

All I've found in a BW motel is an occassional set of dirty sheets! Glad your luck is better than mine.

Way to go Don very nice find.

I found a set on here and got the heavies for $50 bucks. After getting the G2 installed I found that the plastic insert was missing but it turned out that it is not needed anyway. When I put the stock grips back on with grip puppies it rubs just enough that I do not even need to turn the throttle meister much at all it kind of moves a little with the grip making contact. Works fine for me. Don't forget to relieve the throttle spring tension if it has not been done already.

Happy riding :yahoo:

I have a Throttlemeister on my '07A and I really like it, even at list price. I have the G2 throttle tube (marginal value, imho) and the original grips with grip puppies (good value). I have yet to do the return spring unwind but it's on my list.
