Announcing the Rally Rallye
Rally ‘ra-lê

Function: verb

1: a mass meeting intended to arouse group enthusiasm like CFO

2: also ral·lye [French rallye, from English 1rally] : a motorcycle competition using public roads and ordinary traffic rules with the object of gathering the most points in a specified amount of time over a route unknown to the participants until the start of the event

So it's a Rallye at a Rally hence the name The Rally Rallye.

A rally format is perfect for exploring the area all around La Crosse. The area is so saturated with great roads it’s hardly necessary to put together a planned route. I’ve run several rallies in this area and always found it to be great fun to just let the GPS take me from point to point taking what ever roads it throws at me. In southern Wisconsin nearly all the roads are paved so setting the GPS to “shortest distance” means you’re guaranteed to find cool little roads all over the place.

My intent is to make this as fun as possible, while introducing you to the twisted sport of rallying in a format that will be good for the rally virgins. That doesn’t mean I will be easy on you! To the contrary I intend to be very strict at the scoring table very much in the Team Strange tradition. You learn from your mistakes not form me going easy on you.

The Rallye will be on Friday and will be 8 hours long.

I will need a minimum of 10 riders entered or I will need to cancel the Rallye.

Entry fee will be $10 any moneys left over will be spent on food and drinks, not necessarily in that order.

Deadline for entries will be 9/9/09

The Rally Rallye will NOT be Laura Ingalls Wilder free.

For more details go here https://rallyrallye.blogspot.com

What the heck is he talking about?? See previous discussion here.

Here's a taste of what I've got lined up for you...

Damn, that looks like fun!
Wish I could be there.
Your right Skoot, you can't throw a rock with out hitting a good bonus around La Crosse.

BTW could you or some other admin pin this for me? I PM'd Iggy but he must be out documenting the court houses of Montana or something.

Thanks!

I'm in! If anyone out there has been on the fence for trying out some of the longer rallies, like the 24 hour Minnesota 1000, this will be an excellent taste of what to expect. My first road rally was the 12 hour GLMC Bonzai Road Rally when it was based out of Richland Center, WI and wow was it fun! Very addicting! Our bikes are perfect for this kind of riding (exactly why I bought one this spring). This is sure to be a challenge too as with only 8 hours there is much less time to think between bonus stops and less room for error. I'm pumped!

Do I have to use my FJR :yahoo:
Why? You wanna get a side bet going on FJRs vs. Intruders in the Rally Rallye? I'm pretty sure I know how that will end up but it might be worth me loosing some money to get a little fire roaring. :evilsmiley03:

I will take the FJR's in the bet, especially since Cruzin hasn't been riding the intruder. No windsheild on it and it is not fast enough now that he rides the FJR. All though he might ride the intruder faster then you ride the FJR..... :D

Ouch! Well, yep, I deserved that... although weren't we in the same class? I must be having a hard time remembering what you look like cuz I can't seem to find you in this podium pic...

... and now we have 3 going for extra credit???

Dana,

You gonna be at CFO?

Wheaties,

I have not made up my mind. To many things that could effect where and what I will be doing at that time.

You going?

DaJuice,

You should be glad I didn't make that podium. All I would have done is make that picture more pretty.

Plus who slept for 5 hours in a hotel room during the rally and was only 3 spots behind you...

You are the man though, I couldn't ride with that many other people on a rally....

Dana

Dana,

Looks like Rick is doing a great job organizing...I bet it will be the best CFO ever. :clapping:

However, job/employment situation is tricky and uncertain so if I do go to it, I won't know until the last minute.

Looks like this Rally Rallye would be fun...even for a non rallye guy like me.

Thanks for the props but the proof will be in the rally, I hope your right. It'll be tough to beat the behind the scenes climb to the top of Mt Rushmore that Bill put together.

Our deadline for registration will be later than most, other than food we've got little we need to arrange for far in advance.

...and the Rally Rallye is designed for new and non-rally types it won't be full of all those inane beat your head against the wall WTF am I doing this for type bonuses. Well, maybe just a couple.

My Intruder has waxed your *** before and it can do it again :clapping:

Speed isn't the key to winning a Rally :)

I have probably but just about as many miles on the Intruder this year as you have your FJR...Puttzzz :)

Ohhhh. Double-SNAP!! Midwest boy's talkin' smack. :nhl_fight: :lol2:

I do remember a certain Harvest rally where that Intruder had no problems keeping up with an FJR.

I'd love to come out and play but can't make a commitment right now.
