I just got the bike back yesterday. It is an amazing (albeit weird and horrible) sight to behold! Here's my first "cell-snap" picture [more later].

Yikes! I'm a Giger fan and I think you may have gone overboard. Maybe the FJR is just not the right "canvas" for such busy artwork. Or maybe painting all of the panels is just too much.

Still, I'll withhold judgement until better photos are posted.

Do you dare post how much you paid for this paint job?

In this post hellcreep sez:

He's doing all of this work for around $2000 to 2500. I shopped around a few artists and this was by far the cheapest (and dare I say best!) for the work I wanted done. I gave him some Giger artwork and told him to go crazy on it with just a little steering: ie, no major ****, make it dark, cover it. I'm sure he'd like increased business. When I pick up the pieces in another week or two I'll ask him if he can manage a forum discount!

Better lighting with better contrast may make the paint job look much better. The individual pieces shown earlier in this thread looked very good. It is a busy pattern for busy body work.

A little bit better photo:

It doesn't look too busy in the flesh - it actually looks quite dark/shadowed. Upon getting closer to it the texture starts jumping out.

Awesome! Holy Crap, it's awesome! The detail and workmanship is.................awesome! Thumbs up all the way, buddy! You have added to the bike, not detracted, for sure.

Just maybe not a church-going rig????? HA!

+1 for the full album of pics when you get them.

Definitely not an orthodox church bike!

Hope to see all of you at rallies sometime.

Those in DFW -> pick a day/time/place! Motopia on any given weekend or evening works for me. It's coffee-drinkin' weather!

I know those pics are not doing the paint job justice...you need to get some professional pics taken of that bad boy!! :)

WOW!!! Very Nice Indeed! Wish I had the bucks for even half of that paint job.

As much as the FJR crowd likes to farkle, I always wondered why such a small percentage had custom paint. Although it's just one bike, you just made up a lot of ground for us FJR'ers. Good job and enjoy.

My artist has been hard at work these last couple of weeks in Texas while I'm away on business in northern Europe. All in all, he's painting over 20 different parts of the 07ae I've got. Every part of it that is silver, basically. I'm extremely impressed with the work so far. The theme: HR Giger'esque biomechanic - demonic.
Here's the first few pieces... the farings / fender / 1 saddlebag:

No doubt your artist is gifted...but the theme is way too dark for me. Are you into the occult? I refer to my bike as "Beulah" since it is a "heavenly experience" to ride. I've never ridden a "magic carpet" but I would have to guess riding my fjr is my best guess as to what it would be like. Your bike when finished would remind me of hell. To each his own I guess. At any rate..."ride safe"!

Dang.

I gotta admit, when I saw the original post, I thought, "Well s$!&, that's gonna look aweful when it's done." Apaprently I was wrong. It looks really good.

Dang.

I'm not sure if im more impressed with the whole deal, or just the artistic ability of the painter.

Either way -- that's pretty awesome.

congrats!
