I just added FZ1 mirrors to my bike, what a remarkable change! I wonder why I waited so long. No more elbow tuck to see what is behind me. I highly recommend these.

good deal and agree whole heartedly

put a set of Maxi View Mirrors to take care of blind spots

great addition and I put them on the lower inside of the mirrors

I ride alot at night, so have some attached led amber strip fast lights 10" long cut in two ($20) which are both running lights and wig wag turn signal flashers. I used a circuit with each side having a relay powered by the turn signal wire.

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'

I have my old stock FZ1 mirrors out in the shed someplace. Maybe I should check them out on the FJR.

One of my first and favorite farkles!
Ditto! Absolutely worth it to see everything behind you. I caught myself moving my body side to side just to get a clear view of the mirror, that's when I decided I needed to do something.

You do not need to make any mods to fit the FZ1 mirrors to Gen II bikes? They are literally bolt-on?

Does it matter what year FZ1 model is?

the white hyperlites led clusters front and back are used in flash mode as strobes when I ride an escort at a Patriot Guard Riders military funeral.

I sometimes Road Guard or block traffic like at red lights that allows the procession to just keeping going.

They are just two sets of designed to be in front to be conspicuous and seen easily.

I've been told to only run the fronts solid as they make my bike look too much like a law enforcement vehicle

But headlight modulators are fine...I don't like those much

I also disagree with ma Yamaha's choice that the four way emergency flashers only work with the key on

I have a switch so my hyperlites are only on with the key, or push the switch and they can be on regardless of the key position

I sometimes use the white strobe hyperwhites as emergency flashers with key off.

Ah... hm.

Yeah, because they're BRIGHT dim BRIGHT dim, the hyperlights are probably BRIGHT off BRIGHT off like a police vehicle.
Strictly speaking, I don't believe the rear-mounted ones are legal. Just sayin'. I'm pretty sure federal motor vehicle code (which most if not all states adopt) only allows white lights to be lit in the direction of travel. I suspect you're given a pass for the application you have them for, but be careful- some day a cop who didn't get lucky the night before might give you grief about them. Yellow ones would be safer (legally), but I don't know if HyperLites make them in yellow. (Other companies do).

If the 4-way power thing bothers you- and I know what you mean- It should be a fairly easy fix to either re-power them, or put a switch so they behave as designed unless you flip a switch to keep them on with the key off. A clever fix would let you only keep them on with the key off if you turned them on with the key on, but that may be more trouble than it's worth. (Think someone turning them on when you're not near the bike, then coming back to a dead battery.)

Yes, as stated 05 or newer on the FZ1; there's also some cheap knock-offs on the bay that actually work for some (I bought those to try, and the view is good, but quality is not great, and if you ever bend the knuckle on the cheap ones then they'll vibrate like crazy).

And yes, they bolt on to either Gen I or Gen II, no adapter needed!

Agree. on my '04.

And when I do loan out my bike, the mirrors are complimented...

Thanks guys for influencing me to buy something else... aahhhh! Where do I draw the line?

For a GenII does it matter which year(s) is the FZ1 mirror?

the hyperwhites are strictly legal as they are 1/2 brite to full brite flashers...;my comment was that I can be and was approached by law enforcement for my "motives" of using the fronts in flash mode; am I trying to impersonate a police vehicle and what would the public interpret why I use them...not for the strictly legality of having them. I could be in violation if another driver saw me behind them flashing, pulled over because they thought I was a police vehicle, and then saw I was not and called to complain and report me indentifing me by lic plate #. The suggestion was not to run them flashing and avoid this possibility

and they are a gray area because headlight modulators are clearly described on the books as "for the headlights" and not an accessory flasher like the hyperlites mounted down on the forks/fender...under same guidelines is the law about unnecessary driving with emergency flashers on...depends on why you are doing it that makes you a lawbreaker or not.

the rear hyperlites are technically legal to own and mount there...but are "strictly speaking" illegal to have on either solid or flashing

only solid red light running lights and flashing amber are allowed. You can't even install a running light module to your amber turn signals and have them on solid as running. Strictly speaking, you are supposed to change the amber lenses to red to have them as running lights. Blinking turn signal red lenses are OK.

Oh, I asked and they said amber lenses are OK as long as the brake lights inside the lenses light red through the amber. Complicated, I know

yes, the PGR work closely with law enforcement and funeral directors...we are under the same guidelines here as the funeral directors vehicles which run police strobes only during funeral processions as I do. In fact, if I can show it's an official PGR escort of any type (moving wall, soldier's bus going to training camp, CMA/PGR group riding to a State Motorcycle Safety Rally at the capitol, etc), I can run the flashers front and back wearing my PGR leadership patches and arm band. Again, we have a close relationship with the leadership of city, parish (county) and state police here and they know what we are for and what we do.

In police escorted funeral processions, they encourage those of us with "strobes" to lead at front, and tail gun at rear strobes on. We also have CB's and the police leadership will monitor and instruct on channel 1 right along with us. It's especially helpful to remind them as we go along to only do 35-45 mph so our 3x5 foot flags flying from the bikes will survive, for instance.

Knowing the police brass by first name and having their cell #'s in my phone; well, let's just say it's not a bad thing.

Yep I put the FZ1 mirrors on just like Patriot says above and I can see again. Nice post Patriot. I even like the looks of the FZ1 mirrors. Function before fashion and it looks good too - what a deal.

And for those of you who don't think they look good consider this:

The FZ1 mirrors are black plastic, not painted pretty black like stock mirrors. After 30k miles road grime and bugs will trash unprotected painted black mirrors - if your lucky enough to get that far without becoming a hood ornament on some cage.

I see you have a 2009 FJR. I have a 2010. Will the mirrors you have fit mine? If so, where can I get the same ones? Do you have a web link to them?
