I put the FZ1 mirrors on my 04 when I had it and thought it was the best farkle I'd done. After I wrecked it and bought a new 08, one of the first things I did was to put some on the new FJR. It drives me crazy to have to look at my elbows and knuckles. You do have to modify the base that the mirror bolts on to, on the bike, unless you don't mind the rubber boot on the bottom of the mirror riding about 1/8" above the paint on the fairing. I thought it looked stupid, so I took a dremel to it and ground it down enough for them to mount flush with the fairing. Took an extra hour because I was being careful not to grind on the fairing.

FWIW I just ordered from Apache Motorcycles in Scottsdale for $45.77 each with only $9 shipping. Total of $100.54.

Thanks guys for influencing me to buy something else... aahhhh! Where do I draw the line?
For a GenII does it matter which year(s) is the FZ1 mirror?
It's FZ1 Gen I

Where did you buy yours? I have a 2010 FJR and am looking for an online source for the genuine Yamaha FZ1 mirrors. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I ordered those SW Motech Spacers for my Gen2 back in early August right after they passed the TUV testing. They have been available for Gen1 for some time it seems. Twisted Throttle told me they would take 6 weeks plus to arrive by boat.

An email arrived today (10 weeks or so) from Twisted Throttle that they have shipped and should get to my house tomorrow. I'm pretty busy with work so it will probably be a few weeks before I get around to installing them, but I will definitely post.

Thanks, Lee, I am concerned the mirrors may have more shake, although the current ones don't seem to. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I got them installed. Other than the easily damaged, crappy Yamaha screws and usual pain-in-the-butt fascia removal/replacement, the mirror stand-offs themselves were very easy to install and fit well.

I went on a very quick ride, only getting it up to 60mph and didn't notice any vibration. These standoffs extend the mirror mount in the same direction as the plastic faring, so this means that the new mirrow location is as much forward as it is wider.

The mirrors are moved vertically up 1", forward 1.25" and outward approx 7/8". Yes, they do help side/rear visibility. However, since I don't have a way to compare before/after back-to-back, I'm gonna say it's improved, but I don't know yet if it's awesome or just merely good.

More rides will tell in the coming months.
