Where does the road go over the hill?

GPS.jpg

Look at the bottom of the picture. During a sane stretch of road, without taking my eyes off the road I see that not only does the road actually turn to the right, it turns right sharply.

As you might imagine, this is true in hilly New England as well. One "trick" is to look up at the break in the trees and / or any roadside power lines for hints as to which way you'll be turning after you come over the rise. ;)

Better not use the power line "trick" in SE Ohio...quite often the powerlines separate from the road...at the most inconvenient times. ;)

In fact I've seen the power lines turn right...and the road make a sharp left.

We obviously use all the visual cues we can, but I would have to say that SE Ohio has some of the most abrupt elevation changes and turns as anywhere...if yer on the "right" road that is. :D

You can get yerself scared shitless in no time in SE Ohio...

...but it's a fun scared.

Google maps satellite view of a portion of OH-555: https://maps.google.c...069523&t=h&z=14
That sharp blind righthander (as coming from the south and right) is a *******. I was leading on this one and you have a series of righthanders then this sucker comes up. whoa. This road really is one that you want to have run atleast once before going at speed.

Sounds good!!

And I hear it's kind'a on the way to Corbin, KY!! :yahoo:

I'm hoping to do the usual SE Ohio loop on the way down there...drc-32-0 is a local that has shown a lot of the local roads...along with tstaff...who seems to be a stranger on the board these days. It's always an adrenalin rush...and I bet WV and KY will be fun to run through just as well on the way down. :yahoo:
