The boot volume of a Novell server is call SYS:. It's mounted when the server starts up.
Not quite Grasshopper, Netware/Novell still boots via FAT partition. The SYS volume is the default volume where the Netware system files reside. From a network available storage perspective it IS the "boot" volume. You must still have three sectors of good ole DOS code to actually "boot" the machine. (I've been around a while, so I got the joke. :) )

Fine. I didn't want to add to the general level of confusion/hijacking!

Are we all gonna get banned for hijacking??!!!

Wow, I accuse rednecks for mounting SYS (just kidding for any potential ones I may encounter in WV next week!) and I get a Novell guy offended!
Did not see that coming.
Two businessmen in Birmingham , Alabama, who moved down from the north, are sitting in their soon-to-be new store...as yet, the store isn't ready - only a few shelves are set up.

One says to the other, "I bet any minute now some redneck is going to walk by, put his face to the window and ask what we're selling."

No sooner were the words out of his mouth when, sure enough, a curious redneck walks to the window, has a peek and asks, "What ya'll sellin' here?"

One of the men, being a smartass, replies, "Oh! We're selling ******** here." Without skipping a beat, the redneck says, "Well, I see ya'll are doing really good, you only got two left!

Moral of the story.....................don't underestimate them rednecks!!!

Renegade, Are you sure you don't work at man-power and this is how you fill your quota???
Yes, I'm sure I don't work at man-power :) But I did sleep at a Holiday-Inn Express last night.

Recruiting absolutely sucks, about the only crappier thing is un-recruiting someone. :D

I have always found the best people through networking, and luckily in my career I haven't needed to 'search' very often. Not that being a member of this forum means anything other than we all seem to like FJR's.

The two positions I have open currently should be the last that I'll need for quite a while.

Have you gained any legitimate interest or have we hijacked this thread into oblivion?

I would like to state for the record that when I originally had came out with that joke, it was "a guy from North Adams" (which is a city in Western MA - long story). I merely conveniently used the redneck label for convenience. Hell, if I kept it original, then NOONE would have gotten it.

And, I did know that a server does not "boot" to SYS, but "mounts" SYS after booting and while loading UNIX. Thus the name SYS - which stands for system.

/End_Hijack>

Hey Renegade, when you need an AD/Mom/MIIs/Sql/IIS/ and most importantly, MOSS guy, let me know. I work at a place where a whole department does DNS/Network Admin stuff so I'm not as strong in that area.

We don't believe you now. Your credibility has been permanently damaged.
