A good chance I'll be riding from Richmond VA to Poplar Bluff MO. Looking at a route trying to avoid the interstate. RT 60 gets me there. Any suggestions on other routes. Is 60 a good choice. Going to take 2 days to get there and will ride with some friends around that area. Thanks

I'm sure I don't have to tell you that US 60 is a great choice thru WV...as far as west of there...don't know.
I travel that way every Sept out to SD and use 60 thru WV......great ride. I usually hit the slab after Charleston as I need to make serious time after that. I live off of 311 and will travel with you thru WV for kicks if you need some company.

Tim,

US RT 60 through West Virginia is a great road. Lots of sweepers and nice twisties. From Anstead WV to Gauley Bridge it is AWESOME as you are looking into the New River Gorge.

Once you hit Gauley Bridge you follow the Kanawha River and US RT 60 becomes super slab near Charleston. As you head West you will have a mix of straight 2 lane a 4 lane roads.

Alternate routes are hard to suggest I do not know how many miles you are planning to ride per day etc.

I can tell you that US 33 from HArrisonburg to Elkins is a GREAT ride !! Elkins to Weston Super Slab and then US 33 beomes a nice ride to Athens OH.

You can take US RT 50 from Athens to Cinicinnati and see some nice sweepers on mostly two lane roads, but it is heavily traveled.

Further North in Virginia US 50 offers some nice road. From Winchester to Clarksburg very nice twities, sweepers in the Laurel Highlands.

Once you hit US 50 in Clarsburg you have Superslab to Athens OH *(see comments above)

Anywya going West you are on your own once you hit Ashland KY on 60 or Indiana border while on US 50, I have not traveled that way.

I would think that US 60 through Lexington KY would offer up some nicve views of those huge Horse Farms.

Just my 2 cents

HAVE FUN

Jeff
