TWN....you seem to have forgotten....herr squareheads lost the war....payback is a *****....isn't it.... :D

TWN, I will be shopping for a new commuter car in a year or two. Want to come to NY and negotiate the deal for me? That is some sweet deal you got.

Always buy your vehicles at the end of the month. Always. Especially if it ends on a weekend.

Here's the key: God Bless The Internet!

Get yourself a couple of e-quotes. These are often hundreds or thousands below invoice, depending on model. Don't EVER mention trade-in when requesting an e-quote and if asked about financing or cash, always go with cash. These are geared to get your butt into the showroom for some high pressure sales work and get the price back up.

Then, armed with your e-quote, walk into a dealership (one that did not provide an e-quote and as mentioned, last day of the month is best) and say, "S'cuse me while I whip out my.... e-quotes"! Get ready to watch the salesperson choke and go running to the manager! All you have to do is say, "I want that car for that price. If not, I won't buy here. Period." Once you get them to concur, then tell them you want to trade in your Yugo for $17,000.

All this and more can be learned at:

Edit to add: If it's a small dealer of in demand cars like Honda or Acura, these are mostly on allocation and you can prolly rock a better deal as the dealer is always trying to up his allocation for next month or year.

$22,675 - almost a grand under invoice - a damn near unheard of happening here for Hondas
How the hell did you get it under invoice???? I thought I did good when I bought my '04 Frontier. I got it at invoice minus the $2500 rebate.

I've always heard that the hold back was sacraed.

Good Job TWN, :clapping: Share your secrets please!!!

If I can steer anyone into a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo, Jag, or Mazda look me up before you buy. I work for the manufacturer and can save you anywhere from $500 up to a few thousand (depending on which product you buy) no matter where you are in the country. By sponsoring you for a company purchase you will save some cash even beyond your best negotiating skills. I've got a few left this year with no plans of using them all.

Just thought I'd throw this out to my fellow FJers.
