Looks like we will be there Wednesday! Taking the rental car... *shrugs*

I was up there today & yesterday (see "Hello from Daytona"). My FJR is apart right now doing an involved farkle electrical re-do, so I've been on my old HD. I was coming up to the track today & stopped at a light to turn left into the backside of the track and was next to a '05 Gen 1 FJR w/Louisianna plates. I didn't lean over and say anything, so don't know if it was anyone here.

Note that with the track construction I noted in an earlier post here, the usual place for the Yamaha tent + test rides has been relocated. The rides (and where ScooterG is) are on the backstretch. You take the road that goes between the track and Daytona airport. The tent with all the new models is in the corner where the chopper/HD stuff is - that would be the NE corner of the speedway property. It's kinda screwed up this yr getting in and out, so plan ahead.

I'm planning to do the Yamaha test rides (and maybe some others) Mon and/or Tuesday early. I want to ride the new FJR and Super Tenere, and if I can manage it a FZ-09. If anyone is around and wants to meet up, let me know. I can PM my info.

I got a chance to ride the FJR ES and the FZ09 this Saturday. Sure, the ES was a nice machine, but it was the FZ09 that made my day. What a machine. I REALLY enjoyed riding it. It accelerates like a VMAX at lower RPMs. The torque is beyond amazing. Soooo glad I tried it. It feels like somebody put an FJR engine into a 400 pound machine. If I had the money, I'd buy one tomorrow. I even like the way it looks, it's a really sharp machine. Sad to say, it's just not in my budget.

I made the trip solo from Houston on Wednesday and arrived there around 10pm.

Heck it was cold for a spring break place.

Rode the 14 ES, it was like riding butter. I felt as though something was missing.

The word REFINE - it was so refined it reminded me of when I test rode BMW's awhile back.

It was great going to the world famous Daytona track and going into the infield.

Listening to those bikes hum around that track was pure energy.

After that, I bought my t-shirt and headed home. Was supposed to stay till Saturday.

Gary...Without pictures- Sorry, never happened.

:.)
Path,

It's easy enough to take pictures while riding my FJR. That's not gonna happen on the FZ09. That throttle demands all yer attention. So remember the old adage, don't judge... until you've walked a mile in his shoes...

So, have you ridden that thing yet? It's pretty amazing. But then again, you've got to actually get OFF your FJR to ride one. You do get off it once in a while, don't you? Ha-- I was thinking, maybe you oughta change your screen name from 101stpathfinder to something like pathological finder... given all the riding you do :)

I went out there and watched another forum member ride one…

With my budget, I don't dare test ride one.

I did see Skooter "Working" out there.
