I am installing a AP-2 fuse block using Eastern Beavers wiring harness. I am having trouble getting switched power to the fuse block. First I tried tapping into blue wire of the unused heated grip harness. No switched power to the fuse block. Next I tried the windshield auto retract red wire. No power to the switched side of the fuse block. I checked for power after attaching the posi-tap and all was fine with the key on.

My thinking is there was not enough power from the heated grips to trip the relay. But after connecting to the auto retract and still no switched power.....I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. Yes, there is constant battery power to the AP-2

Any help is much appreciated!

Maybe the relay is fubar? Either oif the two points you mentioned should have plenty of power to flip a relay.

Try running a test wire direct to the trigger input from the battery and see if it toggles.

(edit - You did run the + and - power wires from the battery already, right?)

Thanks for the quick reply Fred. Will try that. Yes power from battery to constant power side of the AP-2 is working fine.

Did you try with the engine running? The grip power is switched with the headlamps.

Just checked the wiring diagram.

I assume you mean "green with blue tracer" for the heated grip power? That is only powered when the headlights are on.

Without being familiar with your AP-2 fuse block, I presume you are taking this as an ignition-switched signal to power a relay coil. What is the other side of the relay coil connected to? This should be to 0V. Check there is no voltage on this side of the coil with 12V on the "tap" you are using, if you see 12V, you haven't got the 0V correctly wired.

PDM60!

Cough, cough...
