Are Gen I and II bikes smoother than Gen III

My 05 was smooth, the 16 I'm not sure of yet. I've only ridden it for 2 weeks and 1450 miles.

The 05 had 135,826 when it was attacked by a Buick.

I should know more by this time next year.

If you are an experienced rider, I would think you could tell the difference between engine vibration and bad bearings or an unbalanced wheel. I think I could. My 04 was smoother at 4,000 rpms than my next 08. When I bought my 12, I could immediately tell it was smoother at 4,000 rpm than the 08. All three FJR's started the vibes right around the 4,000 rpm mark. My 12's transmission is even a little slicker and easier to put in first gear and shift that the first two FJR's. I think the vibrations can vary over different years and even in the same year model. That has been my experience and observation over the years reading similar threads like this.
