Are there any female FJR owners?

I've needed a bit of help in backing up a slight incline, and, picking it up from the sandy spot.
Hi Karen, from another new girl here. Know what you mean about the bit of help needed. I had a little parking lot oopsie! and couldn't get the bike upright by myself. It was very frustrating because I've practiced righting a cruiser which is heavier. Guess it's the top heavy nature of this bike that makes it more difficult. Still, that's more of an incentive not to let it topple over eh?

The great thing about group rides, is there are always learners and experienced riders. We all learn by asking, watching and exercising both. Last week I was able to meet a new rider who was very very nervous about group riding. I found out early in the ride that his experience was very new, and showed it. The group stopped, rested and put him to ease plus, helped him with skills before continuing the ride. He eventually began practicing what we observed and actually rode much more comfortable. He emailed me after the ride, thanked me and the group and looks forward to another ride with us. So regardless of your shyness or experience, you are always welcome. Maybe some of the women riders in your area may want to get together, all they have to do is voice up here and you'll be a happy camper!

ZZ,
Sorry, but Carla has been on lots of group rides, including the first Gathering of the Clan...
Hmmm, busted two bubbles w/ one post!
who's carla?
Carla, in front of me:

She's not a board member as she doesn't have a pooter, believe it or not.

zzkenoman...should have got the new rider to read "the pace" B) ..probably some of the best info for group riding bar none ;)

Has her bike gotten faster since she did the paint mods? I only asked because she's in front of you. ;)

Did I meet carla at the avila beach run? I wasn't sure if her new fjr graphics was something I recognized when I looked through the bikes at JB that day.

Another female rider checking in. I'm in MN, and got my 05 FJR in October of 04. Due to a mix-up with the order, I got a non-abs. As he couldn't supply the bike I ordered, he's giving me a good deal on trading up to the 06A.
I've had 10 years of riding; 2 cruisers and a Pacific Coast. The Coast is actually a little heavier, but a tad lower. I'm 5'7" and can just barely flat foot. The Corbin close lowered just a little. The only trouble I have is with my feet down for parking lot maneuvers, especially if there is any sand or gravel. Although I'm not the oldest FJR rider, I may be the oldest woman at 61. I've needed a bit of help in backing up a slight incline, and, picking it up from the sandy spot.

We get the In'tl motorcycle show this weekend in Minneapolis, so am looking forward to sitting on the 06. It's a whole lot easier waiting this time though when I still have the 05 in the garage and my old Vulcan as a back up. Karen
I'm not familiar with your bike called the Pacific Coast, who makes it?

Honda. 800cc, looks like the child of a ST and a scooter, it was actually a very nice machine. Honda just didn't get the market quite straight for the niche it filled.

IIRC, it is a V-twin, 800cc engine. The crank runs in axis with the bike, just as the V-twin Moto Guzzi, and it was also a shaft drive. There is quite a following of "The Faithful".

The Pacific Coast was by far the smoothest bike ever made at that time. Not sure too many have been smoother since. I thought the Pacific Coast and the Hurricane were both cool!

PS... I'm very happy that I don't have a blue bike. Not that silver is my favorite, either. If a choice between the two it'd definitely be the two tone silver. That's closer to bling! Well, in all reality... bling is in the eye of the beerholder, right?SILVER OWNERS UNITE!!!!!
"bling is in the eye of the beerholder"

The onlyy farkel I have not seen posted is where to put that dang beer cup holder! <ROFL>

Hi Karen...

Well, I can tell you that you're NOT the oldes women to have a FJR... or you wont' be in two weeks when I get my used 05...I've got you by 2 years....

Damn! did I adtually admti that! <LOL>

Got a question for you... I'm 5'6", 30 "inseam...( We wont' go into the weight thing!). When I took the bike for a test ride, the first thing i tho was... wow, the clutch is stiff... and the seat is a BOARD! Almost as bad as my stock 1100 V*.... which I traded for a Harley... just could not get comfortable on that Star!

How do you like your Corbie close seat?... I was considering some of the more custom seats, but the closer and a bit lower seems like it would fill the bill....along with a set of risers.... as soon as I can picture how the 6 degree risers would affect thiings...

Thanks

Mary

Be careful what you wish for Roger. Once your wife has had a taste of the FJR, you might be riding her bike instead.

DH and I have been out to do some errands this morning. His Warrior is down, so I let him have the FJR and I rode my VStar. What a difference! I did like having my feet able to be flat down, but that's about all. Each time I lugged the bike around a corner, I was waiting for that nasty board scrape. Much as I like my VStar, it doesn't want to go around corners the way the FJR does.

That's quite a trip your good lady is planning. Wishing her all the best for a safe and enjoyable ride.

As for putting the men in their place..... time will tell. I'm still a rookie around here.

half the fun in riding the Stars is scraping the boards!

And if you think that's bad... the Honda VTX Retros scrapes WAY before the Yammys do...

Cant' wil till the 17th... my house sale closes, I get cash and the FJR! <RBG>

Here....I'm a woman who owns an FJR! I love it. It's an 05. I put on about 25k miles. The only thing I dislike is the heat. I had a 2000 BMW k12rs. I loved that bike and there was never any heat issue. However, I hear the later models do throw off some heat. I had actually had several bikes, never one so heat annoying. I had a '91 Suzuki Katana 1100, an '83 Yamaha Seca 900. and a bunch of others that I won't list right now. Anyway, that's my biggest issue....the heat.
Thank you for confirming that this problem is common to both genders. Glad you are an FJR aficionado. It is a great bike for all of us.

Thanks for the info. Never knew Honda ever made a bike with an engine like that. Must say I enjoy my little Guzzi.

I'm in Fort Worth, TX.
There's some threads goin under Texas about gettin a DFW group together. I'm really lookin forward to that. Been waiting and am tired of riding with the Honda ST guys! Yeah I'm slowing building my social life here. Moved here from Minnesota and it's been interesting to say the least! Lots of squids here so finding quality is taking time.
Time to go riding! There are plenty of great rides in TX. Ride the Rio is coming up. As you know we are getting together every so often around the DFW area. Come to one of the get togethers and let's ride. There are many areas in TX that are ace when it comes to scenery, roads that are challenging and fun. Texas is full of really great friendly people. Taxes are low, real estate is reasonable and for 8 months of the year the weather is great!
