Are there any female FJR owners?

do you think the cops would go for the "I can't read the speedo without my bifocals" line? After all, I is a timid old lady! <ROFFL><BG>

mary
I don't think they would buy that. My ace card is my hospital ID. Ya think they'd be cool if I said I was speeding to the bedside of a critically ill child? (and I wanted to get there in time to get coffee before the shift started).

I want to hear the best excuses, the ladies on motorcycles say to a cop when they get pulled over! Wait!!!....and we want to know if they actually let you go or not.

Never been stopped on a bike, only 3 times in a cage... umm... I ain't saying in how many years.... only paid court costs in two and the 3rd ticket dropped...

I write good letters disputing tickets!....<BG>

Not saying how many times I shold have been stopped, but I am just lucky!

boring answer, but cheap!

Yes, my wife has ridden in all day rain, hail, wind, lightning, cold, hot, fog, and just about anything else you can figure you will run across going cross country. So far, high winds like across South Dakota bother her the most.

Will any of the ladies here ride through the rain on a long distance trip?
on my very first vacation on a bike I got caught in rain, then sleet which turned into snow. Had to ride like that for miles...seemed like hours before we made it to our destination. Do I like riding in those conditions? NO! But, you don't always have a choice. I learned alot on that trip...living in southern California where it rarely rained, I went on that ride without the proper gear. Never again. Now, I have everything I could possibly need to deal with any weather condition! Last summer we ran into a storm...no where to take cover...lightning striking the gound all over the place...pretty scarey. But we rode like the wind and stopped at the first town we came to!

Ive only ridden in the tail end of a hurricane... winds gusting 45-60 mph and sideways driving rain... not that long of a distance, tho...

but it was a nice warm day ..on the Big Island of Hawaii.... B)

If ya want it to rain , i'll just wash a couple bikes and my Jeep...guaranteed!

Could be why my bike is usually dirty.... :D

Damn, can't believe this thread is still alive... I had to answer, though.

I ride in inclement weather... not intentionally, but I figure it's a part of touring... & I love to tour. So far I've rode through rain, wind, dense fog, hail & snow. The snow was the really, really fun one!

My fair weather Harley friends have deemed me as "crazy"! None of that crew give me crap about riding a Jap bike anymore, though.

Actually, I have a question for them... I'm going to ask "If you love your bike so much them why don't you ride it?"

I've got a friend that decorated her "entire" garage w/ Harley stuff. She's got an '03 Dyna Low Rider w/ 2600 miles.

Heidi... slight hijack here but that's what has happened at my work. The HD guys dropped their "real bike" attitude since I ride to work in the rain and freezing temps (not at the same time) and they don't. Once in a while on inclimate days, I can't resist... "Hey, I haven't seen you ride to work lately, is your bike in the shop?" :haha: But when it comes down to it, I don't care what people ride or how often... just don't give me **** about my steed of choice. :****:

SSsshhhhh! I have yet to be pulled over, on either two wheels or four. The last time I chatted with a policeman was in 1980 when he recognised our non-local plates when we drove from England to Scotland for our honeymoon. Neither DH or I had any ID since we'd sent all our papers to England's one and only DMV for address changes.

Besides, to pull you over, they have to catch you first. I can go faster than they can, now that I have an FJR.

No - I only ride to places where it doesn't ever rain. LOL!

For my daily commute, I will use four wheels on rainy days, just to be safe from the sliding cages. On a trip it's a different story. I will ride in pretty much any weather except ice on the road or very thick fog.

During our longer trips, we carry good quality waterproof gear and put it on as soon as indicated. Last year we rode to Colorado and I think it rained every single day. Over one mountain pass, the rain looked suspiciously snow-like.

In Rocky Mountain National Park, we rode up Trail Ridge Rd which is the highest, paved road in the US. The snow had been plowed just a week before we went up there so there were huge drifts at both sides of the road. On the highest part of the road, there was a sheer drop on each side of the road, no barriers AND violent gusting cross winds. The wind was enough to topple a parked Goldwing. I was riding a VStar 1100 and DH was on a Warrior. That must count as the scariest weather I've ever ridden in, but we're headed back there later this year.

Does that answer your question?

Yes - the infamous Driver and Vehicle Licensing Center, in Swansea. Way back when, it was a synonym for beaurocratic incompetence.

Perhaps DH and I should test this theory. How does the Whooshhh..... of his Beemer compare with the Wwwwwhhhoooooooooooosssshhhh.... of the FJR? We could sneak up on some of those noisy bikes unnoticed eh? <G>

Jill

I'm really glad many of the women are participating in the threads, and yes I'm still surprised this one is still going. Maybe there should be a section for women only, moderated by silver penquin , luv2ride, mslilly and krashdragon, or someone who wants to volunteer at least.

well, you get three whoooooses!

the cops here go out in 3's... I've been cruising down the freeway , speed limit 60, but very little traffic, all going 70... I hear a whoosh, they all fly past me...

But, I know in about a mile, the freeway ends, speed limit drops to 45...

By the time I get there, there's one on each side of the highway with the radar out, and the 3rd cop already has someone stopped on the pther side...

There just isn't any room to run here! <G>

There's LOTS of noisy bikes here, and pbly as many or more sportbikes...

Unless you did somthing stupid, you'd only get noticed when you stop... <G>

I agree with Mary, that we like hanging out with you guys and picking on you, when the time is right <VBG>.

My reason for being on this forum is to talk about things related to owning and riding my bike. That's something I have in common with everyone else here. The issues that pertain to just female riders are better dealt with on one of the many girls' forums.

Besides, if we had a section for girls only, the guys would all want in, just to see what we talked about when they weren't listening!

Yup... <G>

I have a couple other forums... one has a folder just for ladies... and I lock the guys out!

But i dont' really think they're be interested in girl talk anyway...

They just THINK we're always talking about them...If they only knew! <G>
