"With no intention of hijacking this thread, I'd like to know what qualifies a person as a "poser?""
Next time our paths cross, remind me to tell you the story about the two posers I met in Tennessee.

"When we ride, we RIDE!!!"
The best (?) part of mc-ing - the STORIES!

All I can say is, one man's poser is another man's hoser

One man's poser is my HD riding buddy who has trekked to Maine, Louisiana, and many, many more long forgotten places in between. Up-state NY, KY, WV, TN, MS, OH. I think we've been to 23 different states together. None of the "real" riders here would come along. JS.

I think it's safe to say that GENERALLY, lots of poser in the HOG world. Not your friend, but in my opinion, he is in a minority.

Short example of a typical HOG thing down here in the south...couple of years ago, was headed to Galveston Texas for the Lonestar Rally from my home in Louisiana. About 10 miles from the Ferry landing, I pull into a gas station for gas and pee break. In the parking lot is a nice truck with a nice trailer, and 2 guys are unloading 2 fully dressed HOGS with gear strapped to the sissy bars. They proceed to fire em up, and head down the road, with the pickup and trailer following, no doubt being driven by the OLD LADIES.

We finish our fuel stop, and head to the Ferry crossing, then on to the motel for check in. Lo and behold, both the aforementioned HOG riders were in the lobby, checking in, and their HOGS were out front, still fully loaded, looking like they just did a cross country trek to arrive.

smh.

That is all.

Easy, there, big boy ... some of us HAVE TO WORK, and I would have loved a New England ride. I visited Four Corners Park in Madawaska, ME in a convertible, and the ride was a glorious one: sunshine, cool breeze, a beer in Portland, and two moose sightings!

As for H-D riders: some are posers and some are the real deal ... which sounds like all other segments of human beings
