Hello,

3 weeks and 2000 miles into my FJR ownership, I think I'm ready to try a long trip. I'll be leaving Fayetteville, AR on June 1, and Traveling to see my Dad in Stevensville, MT...about 4000 round trip. I'll be headed up through KS, NE, SD, and WY on the way up, then south through Idaho, UT, More WY, CO, and then back. Any suggestions or recommendations? I'll be camping, so any MC friendly sites would be nice to know about.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Big Red,

Have you figured out a route yet? If you come west on I90 through Bozeman and need any help, give me a call. I'm no mechanic but I know where there is a good one close by and there is a Yamaha dealer here too.

If I were you, though, I'd stay off of I90 and head to the south through Casper, WY, Idaho Falls, and Salmon, ID and then up to Stevensville. Or you could go up through Cody and through Yellowstone Park.

Sounds like a great ride. Have fun.

I'm going your way from east Oklahoma, but not til July 1. We're using the second option mentioned by 7X, thru Cody and Yellowstone Park. Then a loop thru B.C. and down Highway 1 before NAFO. Wishing you safe riding, and good weather.

On the way out, i plan to go through KS to see family, then out to Pueblo, up through Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Jackson, Salmon, then Stevensville. ON the return trip, I'll come down through Wisdom (beautiful ride), through yellowstone, Cody, Gillette, Deadwood SD, then through the Chadron area, then make my way home. I hope to avoid interstates as much as possible.
