Sorry to hear about this Axe. Some people just don't respect anything now days. But I figure at some point he'll get what's coming to him.

My Dad's resting place doesn't allow anything more than those marker plates; no headstones or anything. It's specifically to avoid vandalism (and ease the grooming work I'm sure). I can't imagine digging ANY kind of hole in a cemetary. Too much risk of coming up with unexpected treasures.

Best of luck on nailing the vandal.

Axeman,

I Don't have any new outrage to add to the above outrage.

I do want to add how great it is you have a place to go and reflect and chip away at the grief bit by tiny bit.

This sucks in a big way. Desecrating a grave site is a sick thing to do but the final resting place of a kid who died in the service of his country? That's about as low as you can get. I believe in Karma, and that this scumbag will get his deserts one way or another.

He has probaby messed with the wrong person here, and will find those just deserts coming his way sooner than he expected.

Please remember that this moron is a minority. By far the majority of Americans are in awe of what your son did and grateful for his dedication to his country and to the Marines.

Any chance his tag looked like this? There's a guy going by amps26 on www.puregraffiti.com, location says Adelaide, not sure where that is. But his posts indicate he's only been tagging for a few months. Isn't the Internet great!

Axeman...sorry some jerk took it upon himself to molest the memorial. What a violation of a sacred place! My disgust that a fellow human being would do such a thing is overwhelming.

I sincerely wish that this place once again brings you closure and peace.

Jill, I agree with you wholeheartedly that he will one day get what is coming to him. There are a whole bunch of Marines from Jordan's platoon that are going to be here on Nov 15th fresh out of Iraq for the dedication of a public memorial and a bridge in Jordan's memory and it would sure be nice to be able to find out who the artist was before then so I can invite him down to explain his actions to understanding people that are willing to listen.

There is no way that this one guy's outrageous act could sour the positive public response to my son's death. Nothing that he could do could ever dim the pride that I have for the life that Jordan lived......

The hairs on the back of my neck just went straight up. I'm so sorry to hear that and so pissed. What a scumbag!

You guys should be detectives! Nothing yet though. I've got a couple of local "sources" that I may have to tap to find this guy. He will be found.

Axeman - I'm so pissed sitting here reading about the vandalism.

Two things:

1) Don't do anything that will get you in trouble.

2) Nothing will degrade or take away from your honorable son, and what he did for our country.

Sorry to hear this.

I am surprised there is not a former Marine on the police force that will take care of this. A trip to your local VFW will lead to a bunch of volunteers for the blanket party too.

That made me smile, in spite of everything else posted here. 'Understanding people that are willing to listen'. You bet they'll listen, and then they might 'help' the perpetrator to understand why his actions are not acceptable.

I like Bluesman's advice too. Despite the incredible anger that you might be feeling, please don't sink to this *****'s level. You, and your son's memory are worth a lot more than that. I'm sure that there are 'ways and means' for this wrong to be righted, with pride and dignity.

What a scum bag! If the Marines weren't going to be there, I would start a thread on a "Group Ride."

Don't ask Don't tell holding you back?!

Sounds like a misguided tribute, maybe you can get hold of him and have him do something a little more apropriate, some of those guys have an amazing amount of talent. Misguided, yes. Redeemable, definitely. Would this kid have known your son somehow someway?

About a month ago, my ex and I put a really nice 4' teak bench at my son's grave. I generally visit very early in the morning and once again in the early evening to just sit and reflect. This morning I found the bench desecrated by some ******** with a black poster size magic marker. He had written "I Thank You AMP26!?" all over the back of it. The cops rolled up and immediately knew who did it but informed me that they can't really do anything unless he is caught red handed. After 1/2 hour of sanding I was able to remove it all but I am still totally pissed off. One can only hope that this loser gets invited as the guest of honor to an old fashioned Marine Corps style blanket party....
So sorry to hear this! Our fallen Heroes are sacred in my opinion and simply the thought of such an act causes me to feel both angry and ashamed.

As my wife says, what goes around comes around. She strongly believes, and has been right most of the time, that life has a way of catching up. Do good and you reap good. Do evil and evil will find you. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but eventually.
