Axxman: The police can do something about the tagging that took place. They are unaware of the graffiti task force that departments have and identifing the culprits.

I say your cops think it is not worth the effort to go after them. will not look good on their arrest record report. fpr promotion.

Whateverr you do make sure you take photos of the tag markings name written and what everelse they do and you can build your own case and bust the ******, it just takes time

That is what the police force has done where I live, woodland ca.. They started this back in the 80's

Definite ***-hat. Personally, I'm with the cops idea that this was a mis-guided tribute to your hero-son after seeing the location, tag-name, and perverted tributes to the country. Keeping FJRBluesman's good advice in mind, you might get a Flicker account and send the twisted Mr. Andrew a message. He sure seems to fit but he may be the wrong guy, so keep it tactful.

BTW, my son set up an email account and used his age at the time in his email address. It's now 5 years later and he still uses it. The 2 years the cops mentioned would put the length of tagging and this Andrew's current age at the right spacing.

I'm absolutely stunned that a "human being" could do this. As some others have said, perhaps it is some sort of homage to your son, albeit in a manner guaranteed to piss off most reasonable people. I'm 61 yrs old, Axeman, have served in the Army, and stand second to none for respect for our fallen, but this cannot be a vigilante type of thing. I'd be most constructive if you and he could get in a room together and just talk. I'm guessing that he would come away with an education, and if he does it again, then you could in good conscience, beat the crap out of him. +1...Maybe he's jes really stupid and simply needs to understand that there are real people behind these memorials.

Then...if he really is jes more than stupid...a hateful person...then the tuneup to his sense of decorum might be in order.

To think that there an individual out there who thinks it is acceptable to exercise his freedom of speech or expression to desecrate a memorial to one who's service & sacrifice protects those rights is inconceivable.

Yes, a "mature, adult" conversation is in order for this person or person(s). I can think of now one better to have that conversation than a few of Jordan's fellow Marines. I'm sure they would be just as understanding as I at this point.
