Your wife is probably a good rider, but this can happen to any of us. I have a 40-year-old lady friend who is buying her first motorcycle, and has just completed the safety course in Oklahoma. This post reminds me that I need to preach to her about 4-wheel drivers often just not seeing a motorcycle in their path, as the modern driver's brain seems to be trained for caution mainly about hazards as big as, or bigger than, their own conveyance. I've dodged so many cars recently on the FJR, that I've started using my bright-lights in the daytime, hoping that I will be better seen. Don't know if this helps, but worth a try.
Best wishes for your wife's recovery.
Oh They see Yah! They just dont give a crap and there more Important than you. Just sayin! Stay Safe.

Update. Will be leaving in a few minutes to drive the 200 miles to get Patti from the hospital. The doctor says the bleeding in her hip where the truck went over her is doing well and with a walker she can move around. Looks like I will be doing the domestics for awhile including feeding her goats but it sure beats the option. If she gives the go ahead I will go to CFR and she says she is going to WFO.

Will also be taking the trailer to collect the remains of the bike.

Once again it was wearing the gear that kept this from being a much worse situation. ATGATT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Ray, Bad news, good news. Bad that there are people like that, Good that Pattie came out without being hurt for life. Take care of her, and don't let that ringing bell bother ya to much.
+1 on on everyone's comments that your wife is alive and will be well with a little time. Sending healing thoughts her way, fortitude to you, and evil voodoo thoughts to the driver. :)
Very sorry to hear about your wife in pain...glad that she has survived this disaster. Best wishes to you both as you both recover.

No words for the driver except that it is knuckle sandwich time.

Make sure you get her close to the computer so she can get on Craig's List and begin the shopping process for the replacement. ;)

I'm sure the ride home was "interesting". Whoo-boy! Make sure she stays on her meds so she'll get the rest and sleep she needs to heal. Right now it's about the TIME to get well.

Hmmmm....a weeks worth of "goat-bonding" and they'll imprint on you....how cute! :p

Yeah, I know...Ray and cute in the same sentence?!?!?! How about sweet?

Good grief! So glad her injuries weren't more serious, but sounds like she'll be on the mend for awhile. You used incredible restraint and are to be commended for not pummeling the *******. I'd say when this is all over you get together with the driver and throw a blanket party for him!

Wow Ray, this is some scary stuff! Praying for you and the wife and the rest of the family. Speedy recovery and all things in order to get back to normal. Let us know if we can help in any way. Take care, PM. <><

Whoa Dude, ...that truly sux! So glad that Patti came thru it as well as she did, and is still wearing her 'game face'! That she's still outwardly upbeat is such a big deal given the circumstance, and luckily she's got partner with a steady hand, a level head, & a good heart to help with those little chinks in the armor may yet surface while she's healing physically! I'm sure she'll be back to her old self in good time, but there's prayers & positive thoughts coming her way nonetheless!

Wife and whats left of the bike are home. Let the healing begin. The other insurance company is AIG so I guess I should consider this my stimulus package :D
