I guess that's why we own FJR's
Some of us, who are CA residents, actually own other types of motorcycles....Honda XLs and XRs, KLRs, Huskies, KTMs, Suzuki DRs and DLs, etc., and also ride them with FJR Forum members and we are directly affected by what John has posted.

I grew up in San Diego and we rode from our front door to wherever we wanted. Mostly around Miramar NAS. :clapping: I left for college before it got bad. My brother is still down there and rides mainly dirt and is directly effected. I'm in Utah now and the opportunities for riding off-road are greater than CA. And I have a GS for that.

Apologies for the short post, I haven't stayed up on the politics of off-roading in CA.

Good Luck

And do you think our reps in DC will help, "The people". It will all be over soon.

I love dirt bike riding in Johnson Valley, a lot of varied terrain, sand dunes, rocks, hard dirt, whoops, many hills and mouintains, and dry lake beds, it's a blast. We've been follwing this for some time. IMHO once they gubment has their eyes set on it, it's only a matter of time.

There is a huge effort of off road people writing in, hopefully it'll work in our favor.

Do you really believe "the people" will be heard over the voice of the "annointed and appointed"?

Let's hope so but I'm highly suspicious. It's one of the main reasons I joined AMA and donate to their legislative fund. At least that's one lobby in motorcycling favor.

I believe we'll be heard; however, not listened to....

I remember years ago we wrote in on similar legislation on another off road land grab. Our dear rep, Feinstein, replied back to me stating (paraphrasing), "I'm sorry you disagree with my position on this bill. I do believe.... and so I hope you understand why I'm voting this way". Could care less about my view.

Another friend of mine wrote in and got a reply stating (paraphrasing), "Thank you for backing my position on this bill". He was against it!

A constant battle and nice this was brought to our attention -as we can never stop the fight to access/ride on the land we own. These areas are some of the best most scenic and wonderful roads available, and they're owned by everyone, yet, some folks want to limit them from the folks like you and me who actually own the land.
Bad Bad Bad all the way around. Public land (that we all own) is beginning to mean just the opposite as often it is now easier to get permission to ride on private land.

Go Far ...yep, you're blessed in Utah ..we need to get you back over here so you can remember what it's like to have fight for rights that you're lucky enough to take for granted! Either that, or we need to get smarter and go to Utah!! I left CA after too many years, but much of the good riding is on my doorstep in the Sierras and in my neighboring state of CA ..so I take the fight personal ...and some of the public land tyrants are getting their agendas passed ...even here in Nevada. Those fools will not stop, and we are engaged in a constant fight.

It would be a shame to see these areas closed off to moto-bikes and the people who own and pay for the land.

Civil Disobedient Rider. :yahoo:

Do not tear up the land.

Do not ride on private land, private property rights trump all.

Ride in very small groups.

Ride it like you own it (and want your great great grandkids to enjoy it)

Invisibility goes a long ways in playing the game.

Don’t be a ****.

GREAT advice ......attitude, politeness etc go a long ways.
Our local club also does a lot of volunteer work of maintaining trails etc etc ....which earns some kudos and favors from the Forest Circus Service

But, there will always be folks out there trying to keep bikes off of the land we all own ....so the fight must be fought from all angles. But like brad posted ....The best and first course is "Don't be a ****" ......and much to be said for staying under the radar.
