1st thanks to all whom posted on CC

Everything is hooked-up now but cannot road test before April ( due to Qc snow tire law). I have read almost (if not all) everything here related to CC. But using only coil (RPM) hook-up and nothing related to speed-o-meter (VSS). How steady the AVCC hold the speed? Hill climb? Downhill? Is it more for throttle tension relief to relax right hand and accelerate & resume with left hand instead?

While having few more weeks ahead, should I consider tring to fit the Mc Cruise magnet kit?

The coil signal is more than adequate for stable speed control. Slow speed setting and speed sags are more related to vacuum level and slack in the AVCC cable at the throttlebody connection. If you have sufficient vacuum, the AVCC will hold speed so aggressively that you can't turn the throttle against AVCC without feeling like something will break. As you have a Gen I the DIP switch #7 selection for coil/ECU signal isn't critical, either setting will work just fine, I would suggest setting #7 to OFF.

With a non-variable drive ratio, a steady rpm = steady speed.

So... VSS is not needed. The tach signal is = VSS until you pull in the clutch (or shift gears w/o the clutch), and then the CC drops.

It works just as well on the bike as it does on any car. The only limitation you have by using only the tach signal is that it holds speed by engine RPM, not vehicle speed. Since it's a manual gearbox which produces a solid mechanical link between the crankshaft and rear wheel, those amount to the same thing.

Use a vacuum reservoir and it will hold any hill the bike can normally climb without needing to downshift. If it's steep enough to need a downshift, the cruise is no good there anyway.

The VSS on the FJR produces pulses at too high a rate for the Audiovox anyway. Word is you'd have to divide by eight to get a usable pulse rate.

Anyway, if you actually did need a magetic speed sensor, the Auiovox kit comes with one, too. Absolutely no need for it.
