Gang,

I was wondering if anyone was using the aux plug in the locked compartment to power some electronics? I was thinking of using the plug for my Garmin but the wire is so big the compartment will not close. My question how are you closing the compartment while driving or did you drill a hole to run cable along the edge?

Dave - I have an 05 so it might be a different story for you, but I put a powerlet plug on my right side panel over the battery and hooked it directly to the battery (unswitched). That way I can leave it running or use it (GPS) with the engine off. It doesn't draw enough power to hurt the battery over a reasonable time. I also have a BlueSea fuze block under the rear seat for switched power.

Most of us are using a barrier strip like this or a secondary fuse block like the Blue Sea. Its much safer because every circuit is fused and it is alternate from the OEM wiring.

I've got the antique model, but, I recall someone with the newer model saying there is a plugged hole in the compartment. Pop out the plug, run the wire.

the only thing I power from there when riding is my cell phone. The charging cable is thin enough to allow the door to flex and shut over it.

For the Garmin and other things I have a switched fuseblock under the rear seat.

I installed a Boat/Marine style cigarette 12vdc socket on the right side of my 08' FJR to run my Radar Detector

I've only had the bike 2 weeks so far, just passed the 1100 mile mark :yahoo: My plan is to do a fuse block or additional aux-plugs in the future, I'm just running out of time. I'm heading for the IBA National Mtg in Tulsa next week and hope to get a look see at what others are doing before deciding on path to take. So I was planning a temporary fix till I get back. Someone said there is a plug in the bottom in the back? Can someone tell where, I went looking and my manual doesn't show it.

Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Dave
