Wow, <_< I walked out and placed my bike on it center stand, I have alittle over 10,000 on them and the front badly cupped, but the back has a great hway flat spot. it appears it ia also time for me to switch. :dribble:

Links to places to purchase would be greatly appreciated along with your reviews as already requested by topic starter. :yahoo:

And remember, lets get our terminology right here. The Avon "wobble" is because of the tread pattern, and is felt at speeds below approximately 5mph. Usually goes away in short order as the tires are worn.
+1

Just had a second set of Avons put on my '04 FJR last week. The first set ran almost exactly 14,000 miles before hitting the wear bars on both front and rear tires at about the same time. For the entire life of this set of tires, I NEVER had any wobble whatsoever upon deceleration from any speed, and I tried it periodically from about 70 mph down to 25 mph or so with hands off the grips (VERY carefully!!!!). For that matter, I never had any deceleration wobble either with the Bridgestone BT-020's that were OEM on the bike. The Bridgestones ran 10,745 miles. I had fairly significant cupping on the Bridgestones after about 6000-7000 miles; virtually zero cupping on the Avons at 14,000 miles. Both the Avons and Bridgestones were always run at 42/42 psi.

I only have about 150 miles so far on the new Avons but have already checked for a deceleration wobble from 70 mph down to 25 mph and there is none whatsoever. There is the usual kind of weird feeling in the 5-10 mph range caused by the unusual tread pattern used on the Avons, but even that is not really very pronounced.

Use whatever works for you and feels right. I am.

I've got about 400 miles on a new set of Avons on my 04, and I like them a lot. A very low speeds (5-10) they are a little different, and I get a little bit of decel shake or wobble slowing from 50 mph, but I don't normally take my hands off the bars, so I don't notice it unless I'm checking for it after reading a thread like this.

Skoot, as for your never experiencing the wobble/shake, and you and I the same approximate weight, (and did you calculate your BS into that 170 lbs?), I was just wondering where you place your 170? Maybe it is a result of weight distribution. I sit dang near ON the tank.

No problems with my Avons and will buy a second set when needed.....

Both tires did take 30+ grams of weight to get the tires balanced......

Yep, I've got Avons, and my advice is like the previous 2 posts - don't let go of the bars.

Now my complaint about the FJR is different - I find if I take my hands off the bars I can't use the front brake. Actually, another complaint, if I take me feet off the footpegs I can't change gear either ('01 model here). Come to think of it, there are many stoopid things I can do that will result in me complaining about something :yahoo:

+ 1 and may I add things that you can't add like the heat issue an vibration an,.....

The tread design of the avon has a continuous snaking grove in the front tire around the center of the circumference. The BT and Stradas don't. This must be a cause of the infinitessimally small wobble when rode normally (which you cannot actually feel!). The Avons do not react to road groves or tar snakes at all which is a big advantage of the design over the BTs

The slight wobble is only prevalent on my bike when my hands are not on the bars and at very low speeds.

As been pointed out both hands on bars no problem no wobble.

I've got a new set of Avons on. I hit the cruise at 35 a couple of days ago to adjust the gloves and no wobble. It's not unusual for me to ride on the freeway with no hands (usu. 75 - 80) and no shake, rattle, or roll. Steering with body English can be a little tricky, though. The only time I weave or wobble is after I've been in the bars.

I sit dang near ON the tank.
Scab - just behind the tank there is a black thing - sort of flattish, looks like it's covered in vinyl or something. This is the SEAT. Sit on it. That's where your 170lbs is meant to go.

Yeah, but after hearing so many say that thing was uncomfortable, I decided not to use it.
