Do we have audio yet? ....or did I miss the post?
The latter.....
CRANK IT UP!!!!!
I've heard 4-2 gives better mid-torque, 4-1 gives better peak HP.
This is correct. For my needs, however, I was much more interested in the weight loss. This entire Yosh system - from header pipe to conical cone exit - is 13 lbs. Total.
The bike is not exactly struggling for either torque or horsepower, so the differences between 4-2-2 and 4-2-1 systems in these two areas had little impact on the decision process.
2. Why are ther no 4-1 available for thr FJR?
There is such a system. Made by Muzzy. Aggressive riders (or heavy riders, or those who have piss-poor pre-load settings) have had clearance issues on uber-hard right turns. Muzzy has allegedly fixed this, though some still complain, and regardless, serious hits to the system's reputation have hurt sales.
With 1/3 the exhaust system volume wouldn't it backfire like a bitch on decel
You would think there has been a substantial reduction in exhaust system volume, but you'd be surprise. There is an enormous -
enormous! - amount of engineering going on in the twin OEM bazookas in order to meet Euro 3 emission specs, and the stock cat is restrictive as hell. The 2into1 collector is quite larger than one might think. I have ZERO popping on decell, even though I thought I would. Mind you, I still have the dB Killer baffle installed; it's possible this happily contributes to the absence of decel popping. Other 4-2-1 Yosh kits on the K8 busa do report some popping... but they have removed their baffle inserts.
What made you choose the Busa over the ZX-14? Looks? Performance?
Reliability.
The devastating frame cracks that continue to plague the ZX-14 platform are as gruesome as they are unnerving. If the frame comes un-made when I'm busting a Ton down a mountain sweeper, my day could be ruined. Kawasaki has introduced a new frame casting technique for 2008, so I hope they have got a handle on this situation. The ZX-14 is a kick-ass machine, there is no doubt about it.
Still, there are a lot of other reasons I elected to go with this new Gen II Hayabusa, but I'll save those for another day.
