Sunday, January 27: AZ FJR Forum Group, Fast Tour Riders Group and AZ Beemers Club 300+ Mile Brunch Ride to the Ranch House Restaurant in scenic downtown Yarnell, Arizona. https://ranchhouserestaurantyarnell.com

We will meet at the Chevron Station located at the Northeast corner of Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway State Route 74; this is Exit Number 223.

Clutches will be out promptly at 0900 hours. We’ll meet up with the West Valley riders at McDonald’s in Wickenburg at 0945; at Hassayampa Bridge.

After brunch we’ll ride thru Prescott & Jerome on our way back to Phoenix.

Drat...I have my daughter that weekend. I'll see if I can move things around, but for now, I'm a "maybe".

BustANut:

Is your daughter a rider/pillion passenger? I may be bringing my 11 year old son Seth along with me on this ride.

Regards, Don
I thought about that, but she's only 8, never been on the hwy., only around the block, and my ex would hang my nuts on a cherry tree.

What?!?!?! :(

I thought I was going to get to ride 'bitch' on the back of your bike!!!!

Oh well, even if I have to ride my own FJR, I will be there for what should be a great ride.

For those that want to make this a 425 mile day, there are a large number of the BMW Crew that want to return to Phoenix after Jerome by way of Camp Verde, Payson and the Beeline Highway. This way you don't have to ride on Interstate 17!!

Don,

I've got 10 yr old twins that really want to come with me on some of my rides. Have you found any place that carries gear that fits little people?

Hola TejasFJR,

It is hard to find good riding gear for small children under ten. I am 6'-1" and 265 lbs. and Seth is going to take after me, by being a big boy; so I can now start to get riding gear for him at Cycle Gear in Mesa, Arizona. Also, even though you have to examine the pieces carefully to determine if they are quality made, I have found suitable riding gear for him at Chester's Harley-Davidson in Mesa. Seth is just now transitioning to riding pillion behind me on either the Yamaha FJR, the BMW R1150RT or the Kawi KLR650. Up until just a few months ago I was taking him out with me on "his" H-D Dyna Glide Twin Cam 88 with "his" Velorex 562 sidecar attached. So up until October I was buying him his gear at REI Sporting Goods.

Recuerdos, Chuy

We’re getting a nice response for the Sunday ride to eat brunch in Yarnell!

A lot of people who have been RSVP’ing for the run have mentioned that it has been a long time since they have eaten at The Ranch House Restaurant.

Long Range Weather Forecast from U.S National Weather Service-2/27/08:

Phoenix: Clear skies with a 60 degree high and a 43 degree low.

Prescott: Clear skies with a 47 degree high and a 26 degree low.

The National Weather Service is now forecasting wet weather from Friday AM through the end of this month in the American Southwest. Rain is predicted from Phoenix to Las Vegas and snowfall at the higher elevations this coming weekend.

So, we will simply make a decision when we reach Wickenburg regarding which way to ride depending on the weather. We can observe the mountains over Yarnell and Prescott from the Mickey-D's parking lot and make our decision accordingly.

We can ride Northwest to Bagdad or Hillside for Brunch, or due West to Salome and Alamo Lake. The lake should be looking good with our fall rains this year. We could then return back to Phoenix via the very twisty Eagle Eye Mountain Road.

Don, what is your ETA at the Ranch House?
Hi kaitsdad: Glad to hear that you may be able to make this ride. I was talking to SkooterG earlier today on the phone and he'd mentioned that he knew that you and other SoCal FJR riders were possibly coming over to participate with we Zonies!

Weather this Sunday may affect us if we go up the Yarnell Grade to The Ranch House. Possibly could be snow on this stretch.

Please keep the following personal cell phone numbers handy and give any of us a call for our route decision. If the weather is clear and bright, and all systems are go as originally planned, we would be at The Ranch House at 11 AM on Sunday.

SkooterG = Greg M.: 520-426-3965; BeemerguyRT = Uri S.: 602-697-6949; BeemerDonS = Don Stanley: 602-722-0427.

Also, my home phone is 480-917-3863. I was born and raised in Orange, 10/28/48; 305 N. Pine St.; graduated OHS in 1966!

Don, If I come, I'll just go right to the Ranch House. I have to clear this with my social director first - (read - KaitsMOM!!)

Due to distance, I'd go the most direct route -

Are there any problems with this route that you know of?

We all know you like riding bitch on the back of Harley's but come on man, let him bring his son!

kaitsdad: Arturo habla la verdad! There's nothing wrong with your route, but it's boring; however, there's no way around it.

Arte: I have to be nice to SkooterG! He ordered my Wild Bill Highway pegs for me, powdercoated the brackets and he mounted them on my '03 at his house last Sunday morning. All it cost me was the cost of the parts and taking him to Brunch with me at The General Store down on Pima Drive. He's a cheap date! 3 shots of Herredura Tequila and he's easy.

Like our FJRobert has said in another post though! I just hope he doesn't try to pat my ass or try to do a "reach around"!

ME: "Honey, do we have anything planned for this weekend, specifically Sunday?"

DaBoss: "No, I don't think we do."

ME: "I need to go for a ride. Mind if I go Sunday?"

DaBoss: "That's fine."

I think I'll call her from the Ranch House Restaurant and tell her where I'm having lunch ..... and let her know when I'll be home.

Look's like I'm in. See youse guyz dere.
