Looks like Mother Nature had the upperhand. The ride is delayed but NOT CANCELED. Group will be working on a revised date so as not to interfere with other scheduled rallies.

Hmmmm, could it be that the LD gods decided to throw weather in now so that the delay creates a new WOO for moi? :dntknw:

So - just out of curiosity - did you partake of the Skyway Fuel Cell Farkle Madness?

Looks like you're gonna need one !!!!

Nope. I'll ride the Wabs and gas up maybe just two or three times!

OK. I'll bring my 'buddy tow'. :D

Actually, I'm not kidding... I just might could do the 1500 miles with just 5 gas stops (5.5 gals @ 60MPG, changing to a 16T sprocket) v. 7 for the stock tanked FJR (5.5 gals @ 40 MPG) v. 4 for for the aux + stock tank (10.5 gals @ 40 MPG). Plus, since it takes twice as long to fill the aux tanked bikes, I'll catch up to you at some point in the ride...

Hmmmm, a challenge wrapped in a challenge! Kewl! B)

Good luck.

I mean the Wee is a cute bike and all, and I don't actually have one, but from hearing things from those that do, I think it would be an ill-advised choice of mount.

There is going to be some loooong, desolate, high-altitude interstate riding on a ride like this. That Wee will be hacking for all it's life at the speeds/altitudes a ride like that will generally see, and will no way be getting your 60mpg.

I mean we all know your nuts and all, but that would be CRAzY. Regardless, I would like to see you wussified Santa Babs ass try it. Quality entertainment it would be.

Seems you've finally broken your streak of "over-the-top-kindness" that has been so prevalent in your recent postings. Welcome back, smart-ass.

Hey, you just concentrate on not fawling down, go boom and leave the big boy stuff up to me, k? Besides, it gets better mileage at elevation, just like my FJR. It's been to 5,500' with no discernible power or fuel issues. Granted, nothing of more than 100 miles, but it leaves me with no concern in that regard. My only real concern is the lack of lower fairing protection and horrid seat (which I hope to have remedied soon).

...I mean the Wee is a cute bike and all,.....
:lol2: :lol2: :haha:
So, how's that FJR of yours? Wanna go for a ride tonight? Bite my cute! :****:

LOL,OK boyz and girlz ...back in the county --got home last night.

I was sorry to learn of this being postponed when I called Dave on the 9th. ....but, it gave me a chance to take a more leisurly pace the last few days in Mexico as I wasn't rushing up to norhtern mexico and I also didn't have to change course and head toward the amrmpit of "Mexicali" ...so good news on that front.

Mexico was awesome, 7500miles while down there and some exquisite riding. The highlight of the trip would be two days I spent on rd#175 that runs east and west of Oaxaca at elevation peaks of above 10,000feet and averages around 8,500 spent two days knocking out only 500miles! Yes, the road is this that tight, ...the most amazing road i've been on anywhere in the world. Imagine hwy36(norca) but much tighter, much higher and it goes on forever and ever and ever. and then it starts all over.

anyway, maybe i'll make the next b2b set up here.

....and i can't go without making a few strom comments per the above .....everyone knows that i think the men's version of the strom is the funnerest bike out there ......but for many LD rides, such as a generic B2B I'd have to give the nod to the FJR ...especially over the women's version (650) of the strom. The fact that a few LD'rs seem to be opting for the 650seems ill-advised to me, you lose so much for so little gain. It does look good with pink riding gear though, I'll give it that.

When cranked up (80mph+/-) the womens version's mileage goes way down -to not any better than the men's version ....yet it doesn't have the poop. TWN: ....love you man, but you're in for an epic adventure to knock out B2B / 1,500 / 24 on the women's version when there are elevation gains, two border crossing etc. On the men's version I had 8 fuel stops planned, and had them waypointed and loaded in the GPS for this ride ......it would have been tight, i gotta admit i was very worried about both border crossings going smooth as if they didn't i would not make the 24hour limit. No concerns on the fjr ...and as you mention the protection is better on the fjr as well.

In closing, ...don't let these guys give you any sh*t about the strom .....you just point them my way with their fat FJR's and I'll skewl them in short order for ya :)

back in usa ...renojohn

Good to hear your report and that all worked out well. I will keep you notified about the new date, hopefully we can round up all the players and perhaps a few more in the next two months. Stay tuned.
